Chapter 105 - Shanghai A.

"President Wang, no need to stand on ceremony—make yourself at home." Jiang Cheng picked up his glass and clinked it against Wang Mingyang's.

The moment Jiang Cheng set his glass down, Chen Xueer beamed and batted her lashes. "Chairman Jiang, the company has lately invested in several very promising projects and properties. Did you look over the documents I sent yesterday?"

Chen Xueer's question left Jiang Cheng rather awkward.

He'd been busy playing with Wang Yuyan all night—where would he have found the time?

He'd only skimmed the important parts.

Yesterday Chen Xueer had told him the company had already turned a profit of over twenty million in just a week.

At the time he hadn't paid it much mind.

As long as the money hit his account he was happy; he hadn't even clicked to open the investment files.

He might not trust anyone else, but Chen Xueer had been assigned by the system—Jiang Cheng trusted her completely.

After the brief embarrassment Jiang Cheng nodded solemnly. "Mm, I glanced through—excellent work. I'll study the details when I get back tonight."

Chen Xueer had long seen through his perfunctory tone, but she didn't expose him.

At first she hadn't been used to it; ever since the company was founded Jiang Cheng had never once taken the initiative to contact her.

She'd always been the one to report to him, and now she finally understood: Jiang Cheng simply didn't take the company seriously—he just wanted to be a hands-off boss.

Chen Xueer couldn't help but grumble inwardly: the life of a wage-slave is bitter indeed.

"By the way, Chairman Jiang, President Wang said someone wanted a Shanghai plate—was that you?"

Jiang Cheng nodded. "Right. You were the one who snagged that plate?"

Wang Mingyang hastily explained with a smile. "Not long ago Manager Chen bid five million for a plate at our Luxury Hotel auction. When Chairman Jiang mentioned it, I thought of you. Turns out Manager Wang and Chairman Jiang work at the same company, so I don't even need to introduce you two."

Chen Xueer was equally straightforward. "I wasn't really willing to part with that plate, but since Chairman Jiang wants it, that's another story. It's on my car; I'll fish it out for you in a moment."

Jiang Cheng nodded appreciatively, his peripheral gaze lingering on Chen Xueer's fair, silky legs. If Wang Mingyang hadn't been sitting right there, Jiang Cheng would already have tested how they felt to the touch.

"Great. Thanks, Manager Chen—just debit the cost from the company account."

"Then I won't stand on ceremony!" Chen Xueer replied with a grin, not bothering to be modest.

Once she finished, Wang Mingyang eagerly added, "President Jiang, you're putting the plate on the 918, right? That'll mean a few trips to the Vehicle Management Office."

Seeing Jiang Cheng nod, Wang Mingyang continued, "I know people there; if you'd like, I can handle it in one go."

Wang Mingyang phrased it very tactfully.

Changing plates really is a hassle—return the old permit, swap plates, new tags, the works.

Since Wang Mingyang was offering goodwill, Jiang Cheng didn't refuse.

He smiled naturally. "Then I'll trouble President Wang."

Handing the matter over clearly delighted Wang Mingyang.

In his view, someone as wealthy as Jiang Cheng could easily find people to run errands for him.

What mattered was that Jiang Cheng hadn't refused his help—this was resource exchange in action.

That's how society works: you scratch my back, I scratch yours.

The meal passed in high spirits; Chen Xueer not only managed the company well but also looked after Jiang Cheng admirably at the table.

Finally, plate in hand and after promising Chen Xueer he'd find time to inspect the company properly, Jiang Cheng sped off… The next noon, Wang Zheng called just as Jiang Cheng was getting up.

"Brother Jiang, what've you been up to lately?"

"I only hit Shanghai yesterday—took a day to rest."

"Perfect timing; I was just thinking of hanging out."

"Oh? Something fun? Let's hear it."

"I'm heading to a Private Collection Room to see if there's anything worth scooping up. Want to tag along?"

Jiang Cheng had naturally heard of such places—you could pay a premium for rarities unavailable on the open market: curios, precious watches, jewelry, you name it.

"Sounds fun," Jiang Cheng said, interested.

"Great, I'll send you the address and introduce you to a few friends."

Jiang Cheng had no objections and nodded agreement.

Early that morning Chen Xueer had arranged for Jiang Cheng's porsche to be re-registered and updated at the vehicle center.

Looking at the new Shanghai plate now mounted on the car, Jiang Cheng felt a surge of satisfaction.

He fired up the porsche 918; its intoxicating growl filled the air as the black beast tore through the streets along Shanghai's Bund.

"Holy crap—a porsche 918!"

"Hu A88888—epic!"

"Which rich kid's out showing off this early?"
