Chapter 286 - Yu Xiaoxiao Worries

Looking at Yu Xiaoxiao's hands, Jiang Cheng teased, "Xiaoxiao, I can tell you really missed me."

Yu Xiaoxiao instantly understood Jiang Cheng's implication.

Two crimson blossoms immediately bloomed on her fair cheeks.

Although she was uninhibited when chatting with Jiang Cheng on wechat, she still blushed when such sensitive words were spoken face-to-face.

"Stop talking nonsense; I'm washing fruit for you."

Jiang Cheng glanced at Yu Xiaoxiao's outfit.

Silk, lace, spaghetti straps, deep-V.

Weren't those all his favorites??

"Xiaoxiao, this pajama fabric is so smooth—let me feel. Is it real silk?"

"You're awful, you're horrible. Let's eat first!"

"Are you hungry? Perfect—I've stashed a delicacy for you to try."

"Xiaoxiao, why are you so quiet?"

…The two of them "discussed" things with each other for over an hour before finally taking out their phones to order food.

Leaning in Jiang Cheng's arms, Yu Xiaoxiao scrolled through nearby restaurants. "Hubby, let's have some seafood, okay? There's a place nearby with really tasty seafood and super-fast delivery."

Jiang Cheng nodded. "Sure."

"Let's get some crispy king-crab legs, a plate of drunken shrimp, and their fish-roe rice is amazing. Hmm, I'll also order you a few dozen oysters for a boost."

After speaking, she turned to Jiang Cheng again. "Is that order okay?"

Seeing her provocative gaze, Jiang Cheng curved his lips into a smile.

He lowered his head directly and captured her rosy lips. "Great choices. Before the nourishment, let me reward you properly."

"Ah!"

Feeling Jiang Cheng nimbly pry her lips open again, Yu Xiaoxiao instinctively squeezed her thighs together beneath the table.

At that moment she regretted provoking him… In the end, she lost the tug-of-war between the two of them.

Watching Yu Xiaoxiao's resentful figure shuffle toward the bathroom, Jiang Cheng took out his phone.

Several new wechat messages had just arrived.

He opened wechat and saw they were from Lin Qingxue.

Jiang Cheng tapped Lin Qingxue's avatar.

"Jiang Cheng, your roommate said you asked for leave tonight?" followed by a wronged emoji.

"Is something urgent going on??"

"Tonight I was going to perform a dance for you. Now it's ruined—you won't get to see it, hmph hmph hmph."

Reading the string of messages, Jiang Cheng finally remembered.

Before leaving at noon, Lin Qingxue had specifically stressed he should attend tonight's Military Training activity—so that was why.

But once he received Yu Xiaoxiao's message, he automatically forgot about it.

Jiang Cheng replied apologetically, "Sorry, Senior—a Client suddenly asked me to discuss a big deal. The timing was rushed and it slipped my mind. How about you dance for me alone next time?"

When Lin Qingxue learned he was off on Business, her displeasure vanished instantly.

After all, it was something important; she could understand.

"Oh, I see. Business comes first. Will you come back to school tonight?"

"Do you want me to come back?" Jiang Cheng asked directly.

"If you return, we can go grab a late-night snack together," Lin Qingxue said hopefully.

"If I rush back, it might be pretty late," Jiang Cheng replied evasively.

"Late is fine; I'll wait for you."

"What if the Dormitory's locked and I can't get in?" Jiang Cheng pressed.

After a pause, Lin Qingxue answered, "Then… we'll stay outside."

Jiang Cheng chuckled softly; Lin Qingxue's favorability value had only just crawled past 80.

With a mere 80 points, Jiang Cheng didn't believe she was willing to spend the night outside with him of her own accord.

Rule number one for a decent man: make sure the other party is completely willing before getting together.

Otherwise, follow-up trouble could easily arise.

Jiang Cheng had no interest in that.

At this point someone might say, "You're already a God-level Tycoon—why bother with feelings?"

"With money you can have any woman you want."

But Jiang Cheng had zero interest in that kind of woman.

What fun is there in sharing a bed while dreaming different dreams?

It's like when she kisses or hugs you while picturing someone else's face. If you don't know, fine—but Jiang Cheng possessed the favorability system; forcing himself on a Girl whose heart was empty would simply be disgusting.

Besides, tonight he was with Yu Xiaoxiao and wasn't in any hurry to "give injections" to other Girls.

After thinking it over, he replied, "Forget it. It's dangerous outside at night; if we go out there might be a 'bleeding incident.' Let's have dinner together tomorrow evening instead."

Reading his reply, Lin Qingxue couldn't help pouting.

Of course she understood what Jiang Cheng meant by "bleeding incident."

Blushing, she covered her cheeks. Mentioning a bleeding incident and then turning her down—what exactly did Jiang Cheng mean?

For a moment she couldn't figure it out. Hadn't they talked about eating chicken yesterday?

Today he wasn't coming back—boys really are fickle.

Before Yu Xiaoxiao came out, Jiang Cheng quickly ended the chat with Lin Qingxue.

Once Yu Xiaoxiao had laid everything on the table, she called Jiang Cheng over to eat.

With a sweet smile, she pinched a crab leg and stuffed it into Jiang Cheng's mouth.

"Hubby, is Military Training tough?"

Jiang Cheng shook his head. "Not bad—just sunbathing now and then."

Seeing how lightly he spoke of it, Yu Xiaoxiao caressed his face with pity. "Why don't you look tanned at all?"

"Are you disappointed? I didn't turn black all over—only one spot is dark."

Yu Xiaoxiao shot him a shy, exasperated look, then hesitated as if she had something to say.

Noticing her unease, Jiang Cheng asked, "What's wrong? Spit it out."

Frowning, Yu Xiaoxiao said, "Zhang Yu has been missing for a long time. His family called the Police, and I gave a statement today."

When she brought up Zhang Yu, Jiang Cheng's expression didn't change; he kept eating calmly.

"And then?"

"They say the last place he showed up was Tyrande, but he never returned afterward and his Visa expired. Because it's Cross-border, the Police are powerless for now and can only wait for updates."

"Mm. It has nothing to do with you; don't overthink it."

Seeing Jiang Cheng show no reaction, Yu Xiaoxiao smiled. "I just wanted to let you know in case the Police look for you and you're caught off guard."

The instant she heard Zhang Yu was missing, Yu Xiaoxiao inexplicably thought of Jiang Cheng.

Especially when she learned he'd vanished in Tyrande, she recalled Jiang Cheng's last words to Zhang Yu: "Hitting you would dirty my hands—why fuss with a dead man…"

Whenever she imagined Jiang Cheng might be connected to Zhang Yu's disappearance, she felt uneasy.

She didn't care about Zhang Yu himself; she was afraid the matter might really involve Jiang Cheng.

After all, breaking the law could ruin his bright future over scum like Zhang Yu.

That would be far too great a price.

Besides, she wanted to be with Jiang Cheng long-term and didn't wish for anything to happen to him.

Understanding her worry, Jiang Cheng smiled and stroked her hair. "Don't overthink it. The Police will handle it. What matters is that he's not pestering you anymore."

Jiang Cheng wasn't worried at all. After all, Zhang Yu had bought his own plane ticket.

From start to finish he'd checked into the hotel himself, and the registration showed only his name.

Jiang Cheng had taken a different flight; the two had never intersected.

Nearly a month had passed since the incident—every trace had long been wiped clean.

Moreover, crossing borders meant no dedicated investigation would be launched.

A small fry like Zhang Yu would forever sleep in a foreign land within Tyrande… Unaware of the cold glint in Jiang Cheng's eyes, Yu Xiaoxiao gazed at him blissfully. "Mm, I just hope his Business won't affect you. Let's not talk about him—here, open wide, I'll feed you an oyster…"
