Chapter 398 - Sensible

Jiang Cheng thought for a moment about why Jessica had come looking for him again.

Either because of his house-hunting just now, or because of the card he'd clicked taking effect on her.

Whichever it was, Jiang Cheng welcomed it.

Setting aside Jessica's arrogance, her looks were flawless.

Whether it was her deep, exquisite eyes or the 36C in front, she was irresistible.

She was twenty-two now; she had three good years left before the sell-by date.

In three years at most, that angelic face would start to slide.

Their bone structure and genes decided that.

Look at Western actresses or Supermodels—whose youth wasn't breathtaking?

But after twenty-five, no matter how disciplined or athletic they are, the jawline still collapses.

Jiang Cheng didn't hesitate; he'd never planned anything long-term with Jessica—just enjoy the moment.

He held her gaze, the corner of his mouth lifting as he tested her. "I like being the first? You don't seem to qualify."

Jessica was startled by the condition, then a trace of mockery flashed across her face.

Hadn't he been in the yard with Emma not long ago?

Emma had even more exes than she did.

Jessica, Alexander, had meant to talk properly; Jiang Cheng's display of wealth was magnetic.

But thinking of her rival Emma Watson getting him so easily while she had to humble herself only to be nitpicked…

Jessica snapped, "Emma Watson's had more than one or two men—don't tell me you didn't know…"

Jiang Cheng grinned. "I set the terms; I pay for the fun. I don't demand that of her. You, on the other hand, aren't even in the same league."

Stung, Jessica choked on her anger.

Normally she'd have cursed him out, money or not.

But under the card's influence and riled by Emma Watson, instead of storming off she burned to prove herself to Jiang Cheng.

Women are strange—they pick fights when they shouldn't.

She'd make Jiang Cheng see her charm, show him she outshone Emma Watson.

She'd expected him to make things difficult; their first meeting had been far from pleasant.

But she'd reasoned it out—better invest effort in a young tycoon like Jiang Cheng than pander to some old man.

Besides, he was handsome; intimacy wouldn't be hard to accept.

She took a deep breath, swallowed her anger, then blushed and murmured, "I can too… maybe not the front, but the back…"

Hearing that, Jiang Cheng was sure the card had done its work.

Jessica's pride would never let her yield otherwise; with the system involved, success was guaranteed.

Calming his excitement, he swirled his champagne. "It's getting late—shall we head back?"

Jessica's heart fluttered at having secured him.

But triumph quickly gave way to nerves and dread.

In the stretch lincoln she sat rigid, uneasy.

She sneaked a glance at Jiang Cheng and whispered, "Did you… prepare anything?"

While she sat bolt upright, Jiang Cheng lounged with crossed legs, planning how to perform later.

Distracted, he blinked. "Prepare what?"

"I heard it hurts…"

He chuckled. "Of course it hurts—no pain, no pay."

Jessica rolled her eyes. "Can we stop by my place first? I need to pick up something."

"You've got that at home?" he asked, frowning.

"Get your mind out of the gutter. I need a change of clothes—and to buy some stuff nearby." Her voice dwindled as she turned crimson toward the window.

Jiang Cheng said nothing at her embarrassment.

He gave Wang Sheng, up front, directions and told him to follow her route.

Soon the car stopped at an apartment complex. Jessica glanced at Jiang Cheng. "I'll be right back."

She opened the door and trotted off.

Minutes later she returned with two large paper bags, set them inside, and said, "Wait a bit—I need to buy something over there."

Off she ran again.

In under ten minutes she was back.

Seeing her flushed face, Jiang Cheng peeked into the bags.

Inside lay several bottles of clear, oily liquid.
