Chapter 572 - The Big Shot Takes the Initiative

Jiang Cheng answered bluntly, "Uncle Cheng, actually I'm buying this place for my girlfriend. I want a place for myself too, but not around here—Mom thinks it's too far. She wants something near our home."

When the words landed, Zhong Chuxi's eyes widened in envy as she glanced at Zhou Ying.

Cheng Gui likewise looked at Zhou Ying in surprise.

Although this wasn't the finest unit in their inventory, it still spanned more than four hundred square meters.

The total price hovered near ten million.

Cheng Gui quickly regained his composure. "I remember your family lives in Deer Lake..."

After Jiang Jianming had turned on Qin Cheng the night before, the other real-estate Tycoons of Chengdu had naturally taken notice.

Still, everyone regarded this dragon that had crossed the river with caution.

After all, anyone connected to a 404 had relations upstairs—who wouldn't want to befriend him?

Once the news broke, scraps of Jiang Jianming's basic information were dug up.

"I've developed a villa area in the Deer Lake district—any interest? I've held back a few lots in the best spots."

Jiang Cheng could tell Cheng Gui wanted to connect.

Skyland Properties had a market cap of forty billion.

Knowing a powerhouse developer of that caliber could only help.

Jiang Cheng nodded. "Fine. Once the contract's signed, why not head over for a look? If I like it, I'll buy one as well."

Twenty minutes later the paperwork and transfer were done.

Jiang Cheng glanced at Zhou Ying and Zhong Chuxi. "Ying'er, the formalities are finished. We've still got time before tonight's dinner; let's get a cleaning crew in for a deep scrub. Take stock of anything else we need."

Zhou Ying understood. She nodded sweetly. "Then I'll wait for you to come back."

Once Jiang Cheng left, Zhou Ying took the keycard and brought Zhong Chuxi upstairs.

Standing inside the four-hundred-plus-square-meter flat, Zhong Chuxi was green with envy.

She turned to Zhou Ying. "Zhou Ying, I'm so jealous. Who knew Jiang Cheng was a super Second-generation rich? If I'd known earlier, I'd have chased him myself."

Zhou Ying chuckled. "You still can."

Zhong Chuxi pouted. "Easy for you to say. If you weren't in the picture, I'd definitely try—but going up against you? I'd just humiliate myself."

Zhou Ying looked her over. "Why put it like that? You're a beauty too. I remember quite a few guys pursued you back in high school."

"I'm just average-pretty; you're the real stunner. Honestly, with a catch like Jiang Cheng, do you feel any pressure?"

Zhou Ying caught her meaning but answered confidently, "None—Jiang Cheng treats me really well."

Seeing her confidence, Zhong Chuxi pursed her lips in envy. "Sure enough, the campus belle. Oh, I just posted a clip of Jiang Cheng in the group—let's see what people say."

Zhou Ying leaned over. "What clip?"

"The one of him smashing the car outside just now."

The chat had been buzzing about the class reunion until Zhong Chuxi's video sent everyone into overdrive.

Huang Cheng exclaimed, "Damn, that's Jiang Cheng??"

Zhou Zhiyun chimed in, "So cool! Good thing we're tight—never pissed him off or I'd be trembling at home right now."

Chen Zhipeng: "I bet he's some underground boss or conglomerate heir. Can't mess with him."

Jiang Yun: "Not only is the wannabe tough shaking; I'm shaking in front of my screen!"

Watching the clip, Li Xudong felt a chill of retrospective fear.

He recalled incidents from senior high.

Back then he hadn't known Jiang Cheng's background; now it was clear the guy was no ordinary student.

Xudong had always been sensitive, and Zhou Zhiyun's comment especially struck home.

After all, relations among him, Zhou Zhiyun and Jiang Cheng had never been great.

So whenever Zhou Zhiyun spoke, Li Xudong felt targeted.

He'd traded plenty of barbs with Jiang Cheng in the past.

A minute ago he'd been spamming the chat; now he silently deleted every character he'd typed.

He dared not provoke Jiang Cheng again, nor be mocked by Zhou Zhiyun.

Jiang Yun: "Is that Zhou Ying in the clip? Are they together now?"

Xu Ya: "Isn't that the Wangjiang Residence showroom? Why were they there?"

Chen Zhipeng: "A Tycoon wouldn't be a paid shill—could they actually be buying?"

Zhong Chuxi replied: "@ChenZhipeng Bingo. I just watched this Tycoon pay cash for a four-hundred-square-meter mansion."

As a hired promoter for Wangjiang Residence, she knew the prices were sky-high, far beyond ordinary wallets.

What stunned her even more was that Jiang Cheng had paid in full on the spot.

To a small-town girl like her, the scene was mind-blowing.

She itched to share but worried Zhou Ying might mind.

Zhong Chuxi asked cautiously, "Can I post a picture of the place in the group?"

Zhou Ying shrugged. "Sure."

"Really? You won't be mad?"

Zhou Ying asked, puzzled, "Why would I be mad??"
