Chapter 629 - It Really Was Just Playing Games

The next day, Jiang Cheng got out of bed helplessly at Chen Xueer's call to accompany her out for lunch.

Over the past two days, Chen Xueer had been busy running errands for her alone; it really had been hard work.

So even though he had stayed up late yesterday, Jiang Cheng was willing to go out with her.

As soon as Chen Xueer stepped out of the hotel elevator, she spotted Jiang Cheng at a glance.

Jiang Cheng was dressed in casual clothes, tall and robust, standing by a bentley continental with sleepy eyes, looking down at his phone.

Though he looked lazy, he exuded an irresistible masculine charm.

Beside him, several hotel Female Waitresses were secretly staring at him.

Their eyes revealed greed and infatuation.

Chen Xueer couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

This kind of wealthy and handsome man was simply toxic.

In this impetuous society, not many women could resist a guy with such qualities.

Chen Xueer walked toward Jiang Cheng and said with a bright smile, "Chairman Jiang, were you exhausted last night? Why do you look like you didn't sleep well?"

Jiang Cheng glanced at Chen Xueer.

She was wearing a pale pink dress.

Her long hair fluttered in the breeze, exuding an elegant aura.

There was no trace of her usual career-woman persona.

Her eyes held a sense of excitement and anticipation, as if she were looking forward to today's outing.

Jiang Cheng nodded, his voice carrying a hint of fatigue. "I stayed up late for a multi-queue."

"Multi-queue? What kind of queueing?" Chen Xueer asked with a strange expression upon hearing this.

"Just a few people gathering for a Brawl," Jiang Cheng replied succinctly.

Seeing that Chen Xueer didn't speak but instead looked at him warily.

Jiang Cheng looked at her speechlessly. "Don't get dirty ideas this early in the morning."

"You started it, okay?" Chen Xueer retorted dissatisfiedly. "There was a lot of information in what you just said. I keep feeling like you're implying something."

"What was I implying?? Honestly, where did your mind go?"

Chen Xueer was a bit hesitant, then asked again, "Was it really just playing games?"

"Of course. My match history is searchable. I fought until past three last night and went straight into a five-game losing streak. The original close friendship was completely exhausted through match after match of ranked play."

Speaking of this, Jiang Cheng looked helpless.

Every time he tried to bond with Zhou Zhiyun, Huang Cheng, and Wang Xiaochui, the result was mostly mutual understanding amidst defeat.

If it hadn't been the middle of the night, Jiang Cheng would have definitely called in two professional players to save the day.

Seeing Jiang Cheng's look of grief and indignation, Chen Xueer couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh.

"Where are you taking me for lunch??"

Jiang Cheng thought for a moment, then said, "I'll be returning to Shanghai in a few days. I haven't eaten near my school since I came back this time. How about we go eat Rice Noodles near my high school? I used to love the Rice Noodles at that shop; the flavor is a specialty of our Chengdu."

Chen Xueer nodded without a second thought. "Sure, high school... that sounds like the taste of memories. Just follow your lead, I'm not picky."

In fact, Jiang Cheng, Zhou Ying, and Zhou Zhiyun had already eaten hotpot near the school, but that place was still some distance away from the campus.

The shop they were going to today was right next to the school's main entrance.

Hearing Chen Xueer say this, Jiang Cheng suddenly remembered that he still had two gourmet cards in his system inventory that he hadn't used.

One was the Gourmet Sharing Card he got from eating at Young Master Huang's place with An Xin last time.

The other was a Hometown gourmet cashback card he obtained while eating rabbit meat hotpot with his parents a few days ago.

Jiang Cheng checked the usage rules for these two cards.

He felt that the Hometown gourmet cashback card was quite suitable for today's lunch.

Hometown gourmet cashback card reward rules: 'The Host can share a gourmet meal from your memory with at most one person. Cashback will be 1-1000 times based on the Host's inner satisfaction and the other party's satisfaction.'

The thin beef Rice Noodles they were about to eat could be considered a gourmet memory of home.

When Jiang Cheng was a student, he often had lunch at this shop.

It could be said that this shop witnessed most of his lunch breaks during his three years of high school; it was the delicacy he missed most from the past three years.

Although only four months had passed since high school, thinking about it now, his heart was still full of nostalgia and anticipation.

After getting into the car, Jiang Cheng didn't even turn on the navigation and drove straight toward the school.

After all, this was Chengdu, and he was as familiar with the roads around here as he could be.

The car soon reached the food street next to the school gate.

It was currently time for students to go to school. As soon as the dark green bentley continental appeared, it attracted the attention of some junior students near the school.

At this age, only a few students were materialistic; most watched out of curiosity, wondering if the person in the car might be one of their classmates.

Seeing two unfamiliar faces inside the half-lowered windows without school uniforms, most people just took a couple of looks and dispersed. Only a small portion of 'visual lovers' kept staring at Jiang Cheng and Chen Xueer.

The car slowly drove to the entrance of the rice noodle shop.

Jiang Cheng pushed open the car door and stepped out.

Looking around, he found that everything here was still so familiar.

The snack stalls, restaurants, and supermarkets were all in their original locations.

It was just that some storefronts had changed owners, and some had expanded.

However, the rice noodle shop he frequently visited was still there.

The sign hanging at the door was already a bit old, and the decoration was very simple, but the business in the shop was still very good.

Fortunately, it had been some time since the peak lunch hour, and there were still empty seats in the shop.

Just as Jiang Cheng and Chen Xueer walked in, the owner looked up at Jiang Cheng, scrutinized him for a moment, and quickly recognized him.

The middle-aged owner said with a look of surprise and a grin, "Young man, back at school? You're doing well, aren't you? Didn't you just graduate? You're already driving a bentley."

After saying that, he muttered to himself softly, "Wait, shouldn't you be in university?"

Jiang Cheng said to the owner with a chuckle, "I only found out my family had a mine after I graduated."

The middle-aged owner was even more surprised upon hearing this and said, "Yo, just yesterday while scrolling through TikTok, I saw a Second-generation rich who couldn't find a job after graduation. His father saw how pitiful he was and finally told him that the family actually has hundreds of millions in assets and doesn't need to worry about food or drink, and then let him work at the company. Young man, you're not in that kind of situation, are you?"

Jiang Cheng said with a chuckle, "Pretty much, but I'm not as rich as him."
