Two hours later, Jiang Cheng finally finished his "discussion" with Yu Xiaoxiao.
He stretched lazily, walked into the bathroom, and took a nice, hot shower.
Refreshed, he stepped out of Yu Xiaoxiao's office.
Glancing at the message Wang Congcong had just sent, Jiang Cheng headed for the elevator.
The elevator soon reached the basement level.
The doors slid open and he immediately spotted several black-clad Bodyguards standing ramrod-straight, waiting for him.
The Bodyguards stepped forward and, in hushed voices, briefed him on the situation.
Following their cue, Jiang Cheng looked in the direction they indicated.
His gaze landed on a white nanny van diagonally across from the exit.
The moment he walked out, the van's window glided down.
A breathtakingly beautiful face appeared.
One glance and Su Wan looked as radiant as the first ray of dawn, dazzling to behold.
Her skin was snow-white, delicate as porcelain.
Her eyes were like a clear spring—limpid and bright.
Long lashes fluttered gently, as light as butterfly wings.
Her lovely lips curved slightly upward, her gaze carrying a flirtatious, provocative charm as she stared challengingly at Jiang Cheng.
Seeing that smile, Jiang Cheng mused that she was clearly ready to squeeze him dry.
He hooked the corner of his mouth, bypassed her van, and without hesitation strode to the rolls-royce parked nearby.
He crooked a finger at her, signaling her to follow.
Watching Jiang Cheng climb coolly into the car, Su Wan's bright smile collapsed.
Her eyes showed a trace of displeasure and disappointment.
Even though the odds of being photographed at Xingchen Company headquarters were extremely low,
Su Wan, out of caution, instinctively pulled on a black mask and then a baseball cap.
After carefully disguising herself, she felt safe enough to step out of the van and stalked, somewhat indignantly, toward the rolls-royce.
The instant she got in, a powerful arm pulled her into a tight embrace.
The scent unique to each of them filled their nostrils.
In a heartbeat, the distance between them shrank to nothing.
As the windows and privacy screen rose, the car began to move.
Jiang Cheng turned to Su Wan, puzzled. "Didn't you say you had work? Waiting for me on purpose?"
Su Wan gave him a gentle push, trying to wriggle free.
"It got canceled at the last minute…" she explained, embarrassed.
As she spoke, her gaze swept up and down Jiang Cheng.
"Hey, why did you change clothes?"
Her tone was now tinged with jealousy, a stark contrast to the meek demeanor she'd shown in front of Yu Xiaoxiao moments earlier.
Jiang Cheng smiled faintly. "Spare set kept in Xiaoxiao's office."
Recalling the previous times she'd run into Jiang Cheng after he'd left Sister Yu's office, Su Wan felt a pang of envy.
She couldn't help saying, "No wonder. I noticed before—every time you come out of Sister Yu's office, you've changed clothes."
Jiang Cheng glanced down at his outfit.
He'd only swapped the undershirt beneath his jacket.
He hadn't expected such a tiny change to be caught by Su Wan's sharp eyes.
Women really are born detectives.
"Jealous? Then why did you run just now?"
Su Wan rolled her eyes at him.
Yet her arms honestly circled his neck as she teased, "If I hadn't run, could two of you handle me?"
"Oh, doubting me? Want to test me tonight?" Jiang Cheng grinned wickedly, pinching her nose.
Su Wan slapped his hand away and cooed, "Keep dreaming. Aren't you scared I'll really get mad?"
"Mad? Perfect. I haven't been to the office in ages. That rookie you introduced last time—Yang Chaoyue—seems promising…"
The moment the words left Jiang Cheng, Su Wan's face fell.
She leaned against him in a sulk, arms tightening around his waist.
"You scumbag, I swear you don't understand what love is."
She nuzzled his chest as she spoke.
Feeling her movements, Jiang Cheng's lips curved upward.
He patted her back gently. "Stop fussing. How could I not understand?"
After a pause he added, "Looking at the word itself, it's clearly a verb."
"A verb?" Su Wan blinked in confusion.
He nodded firmly. "Mm. A verb that needs us to cooperate—sometimes I lead, sometimes you do. The process is intense, yet when it ends, there's always a sense of emptiness."
Su Wan frowned. "That explanation… makes sense. It does feel awful once it stops, but you don't seem to care at all."
Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow. "Why should I care? After we finish, if your hips don't ache and your legs aren't jelly, I can keep going."
The second half of his sentence snapped Su Wan back to reality.
Her face flushed crimson and she punched his chest in shy embarrassment. "You villain, I meant love, not that…"
Jiang Cheng laughed, caught her flailing fists,
and pinned her down. "If we weren't short on time, I'd skip the lecture and give you a practical demonstration."
As his hands slipped under her sweater, Su Wan squealed, "Where are you taking me?"
He cocked an eyebrow. "Where do you want to go?"
Su Wan's eyes darted shyly. "Let's skip my place. The paparazzi are relentless lately, and this car's too conspicuous—I'm scared we'll be spotted."
Jiang Cheng burst out laughing. "Aren't you the eager one? It's still early; hungry already?"
His muffled voice drifted up from her white sweater, laced with amusement and affection.
