Just as Lin Xia was scheming about how to accuse Wang Yuyan in front of the hotel guests, her peripheral vision caught several grim-faced Bodyguards in black striding straight toward her.
The sight of those towering, muscle-bound men made Lin Xia's heart lurch.
Before she could ask what they wanted, the leader shot out a hand like a starving tiger, brutally yanking her up.
"You—" Lin Xia gasped, fury and shock colliding in her throat.
Half a syllable out, another Bodyguard clamped a broad palm over her mouth with lightning speed.
Her lips felt seized by iron pincers; not another sound could escape.
In seconds the two Bodyguards worked in perfect sync, silencing her and hoisting her like a chick to the gates of Luxury Hotel.
Watching herself dragged out of the hotel so easily,
her belongings tossed in the dust at her feet,
Lin Xia's eyes bulged, disbelief carved across her face.
She thrashed wildly, but it was useless.
Fury boiling, she muffled, "You thugs! I'll call the police!"
The burly, stone-faced leader curled a contemptuous smile.
Standing like a mountain, he looked down on her and warned in a low, authoritative voice, "Our President asked me to tell you: don't show up near our hotel again, or face the consequences."
Facing the scar-faced, menacing Bodyguard, Lin Xia trembled, terror seeping into her bones.
She stared, swallowed hard, trying to steady herself.
Then she glanced around.
Spotting a few passers-by, she raised her voice, "What do you think you're doing? This is a big city—do you plan to kill me in broad daylight?"
The shout drew no reaction; the Bodyguards simply stared. Lin Xia's fragile bravado wilted halfway.
Her tone softened involuntarily. "I'm only waiting for my daughter. No trouble. Just let me see her and I'll leave at once."
One Bodyguard finally broke the silence.
"Your daughter isn't here. She's resigned."
The words struck like lightning; Lin Xia's heart lurched into chaos.
She shook her head frantically. "Impossible! I saw her this morning. Even if she quit, she'd still be inside today. Call her out or I won't leave."
Lin Xia's feelings toward Wang Yuyan were torn—she loathed and envied her.
She detested Wang Yuyan's breathtaking beauty and coveted her enviable job.
The conflict drove her toward a kind of madness.
She itched to ruin Wang Yuyan yet still wanted to leech off that glittering position.
Now, with no money gained and herself thrown out, panic seized her.
If Wang Yuyan had really quit, where could she find her next time?
"That ungrateful wretch! Tossing away a perfect job—if I catch her I'll beat her to death…"
Rage boiling over, she yelled toward the lobby, "Wang Yuyan, get out here!"
Seeing her start again, the Bodyguards clamped a hand over her chattering mouth without hesitation.
To them she was a stubborn rock, impervious to reason.
To finish the job, the grim leader frowned and warned, "Our President has approved Miss Wang's resignation and guarantees you'll never set foot inside again. Be smart and leave—Miss Wang is someone you can't afford to offend."
From his tone Lin Xia sensed the Bodyguards' respect for Wang Yuyan.
Suspicion flashed across her face. "Miss Wang? Don't tell me that girl has hooked the boss? I knew she'd fool around instead of working…"
Before she could spew more, a Bodyguard grabbed her arm and hauled her toward a quiet, secluded alley.
P.S. Two more chapters coming soon—still racing the keyboard at full gallop.
