Chapter 1525 - The Roots of the Cheng Family

The butler on the other end of the phone seemed startled by Cheng Gui's reaction.

After a second of silence, he hurriedly explained, "No, Master... the Young Master... he's sustained some injuries. Please come quickly and take a look. The police are also on the scene..."

Hearing that Xiao Dong's life was not in danger, the heavy stone in Cheng Gui's heart finally fell.

He let out a long sigh of relief, but his palms were already drenched in sweat.

"I understand. Send me the address; I'm coming over now," Cheng Gui said, steadying himself and trying his best to return his voice to a calm tone.

Jiang Cheng did not stop his movement of holding the teacup, the dense steam blurring the emotions in the depths of his eyes.

He spoke indifferently, "Chairman Cheng, did something happen?"

Cheng Gui seemed to be suddenly pulled back to reality, his hand still trembling as he hung up the phone.

"No... it's nothing major. Just a servant at home who doesn't know any better, making a fuss over a small matter. It's truly a headache," Cheng Gui's voice wavered slightly, as if he were trying hard to conceal his inner unease.

As he spoke, he hurriedly stood up and rushed toward the door.

He walked so fast that his steps faltered, nearly causing him to crash into the doorframe.

This near-collision made him suddenly realize his loss of composure; his body stiffened abruptly, and his expression became even more unsightly.

"Oh, look at how rushed I am, I almost forgot to say goodbye. I'm truly sorry, Jiang Cheng," Cheng Gui said, quickly steadying himself and forcing a look of composure.

Hearing this, Jiang Cheng picked up the hot milk on the table and took a slow, deliberate sip.

"Alright, then go ahead and take care of your business. Come over for a meal when you have time."

"Yes, yes, yes..."

After responding haphazardly, Cheng Gui immediately took out his phone to check the address sent by the butler, rushing out of the villa as if he had lost his soul.

It wasn't until he sat in the car that he realized his palms were covered in cold sweat.

The driver asked, "Boss, where to?"

The question caused the driver to flinch as Cheng Gui immediately roared at him.

"Where else could we go? 'Night Color' Bar! Drive faster!"

The scenery outside the window receded rapidly, but Cheng Gui's gaze remained fixed on his phone screen, staring intently at the location sent by the butler.

His heart felt as though it were being squeezed tightly by an invisible hand, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.

Although the butler said Xiao Dong's life wasn't in danger, Cheng Gui's heart was still filled with worry and unease.

He vaguely guessed that his son might have gone to that kind of gaudy, neon-lit place to mess around again last night,

But he never imagined that things would escalate to the point of police intervention.

No matter how much of a scoundrel Xiao Dong was, he was still Cheng Gui's only son—the roots of the Cheng Family.

Forty minutes later, the black bentley stopped at the entrance of the bar street. From a distance, he could see flashing police lights and the cordoned-off area.

Several uniformed police officers were dispersing the crowd of onlookers, and a few panicked-looking waiters were standing at the bar entrance.

Cheng Gui was burning with anxiety; he rushed toward the bar entrance in a few strides, completely ignoring the crowd being held back behind the police line.

However, just as he was about to reach the entrance, a police officer guarding the door quickly extended an arm, blocking his path.

"Sir, please stop! The scene is currently being investigated. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed inside," the officer said with a serious expression.

"I am Xiao Dong's father! My son is inside!" Cheng Gui shouted anxiously, while quickly pulling his business card from his wallet and stuffing it into the officer's hand. "Let me in!"

The officer took the card and looked down at it, seeing the words 'Chairman of Cheng Group' clearly printed on it.

His expression softened visibly. After a moment of hesitation, he stepped aside to leave a narrow gap and said, "A situation was just discovered inside. You... had better be mentally prepared."

When Cheng Gui rushed into the bar, the pungent smell of disinfectant mixed with the lingering scent of tobacco and alcohol hit him in the face.

The door to the private booth at the end of the hallway was wide open. Several forensic investigators in white coats were carrying out a stretcher covered with a white cloth; a section of a blood-stained skirt was faintly visible at the edge of the sheet.

His heart skipped a beat. Just as he was about to ask something, he saw the Cheng Family butler crying in a corner.

Standing beside him were two other parents who looked equally distraught.

They were the fathers of Yellow Hair and Green Hair.

"What exactly happened?!" Cheng Gui asked the butler, his voice as raspy as sandpaper. "Where is Xiao Dong? Where is he?"

The butler flinched in fear and pointed inside the booth. "The Young Master... the Young Master is inside being watched by the police... and Miss Linna, she..."

It felt as though someone had dealt a heavy blow to Cheng Gui's head.

With a loud buzzing sound, his body swayed involuntarily, nearly falling to the ground.

He steadied himself and stumbled into the booth.

As soon as he entered, a thick, metallic scent of blood assailed his nostrils.

Cheng Gui's stomach churned, and he nearly vomited.

Suppressing his nausea, he looked around and saw that the bloodstains on the floor had already dried.

Looking at the sofa, fragments of clothing were scattered everywhere.

And that broken leather belt was particularly jarring to the eyes.

Cheng Gui's gaze finally landed on the chair in the corner.

Xiao Dong was curled up there, his body trembling incessantly.

Xiao Dong's originally decent-looking face was now swollen like a steamed bun, covered in blue and purple bruises, looking quite terrifying.

His trousers were covered in various stains; it was clear he had suffered no small amount of torment.
