Chapter 1572 - Pasjin Syndrome?

Just as she was about to say something to Si Qing…

a rather shrill female voice suddenly rang out.

"Oh, if it isn't our school's superstar sisters? Who exactly are you showing off for?" The voice carried obvious mockery and disdain.

Following the sound, she saw a girl in a limited-edition outfit, carrying the latest crocodile-skin handbag.

Strutting toward Si Nian and Si Qing with her nose in the air.

It was Lin Weiwei speaking.

Her make-up and hairstyle were exquisitely done; clearly she'd had them professionally styled.

Lin Weiwei had always thrown her weight around campus—not because she was exceptionally pretty.

but because her family's money made most people give way. Over time she'd become another kind of "focus" at school.

When she reached the two girls she looked them up and down, eyes finally settling on the Chow Tai Fook gold necklaces at their throats.

The corner of her mouth curved in the superiority of a native Shanghainese.

She sneered, "What's the point of wearing gold? Tacky as hell. Only people with no money pile gold on themselves. Two street-stall trinkets and you dare stand here showing off? Looks to me like someone's waiting for some sugar-daddy in a sports car to notice them."

Si Qing frowned and was about to retort when Si Nian gently tugged her arm.

Seeing the sisters stay silent, Lin Weiwei pressed her advantage, stepping closer. "Cat got your tongue? Did I hit a nerve? Figures—girls without backing who want to make it in Shanghai have to resort to these tricks."

Lin Weiwei spoke loudly; passing students began whispering.

"Lin Weiwei's mocking the Si sisters again. Being pretty is such a hassle."

"Sigh, it's not just the twins. Last week she publicly threw milk tea on a sophomore senior."

"So tragic. With her family background, what can you do? Let's keep our distance…"

…When Jiang Cheng stepped out of the car, some eyes were drawn by the sudden arrival of the rolls-royce.

but others were fixed on the Twin Sisters and Lin Weiwei.

The sisters, stung by Lin Weiwei's words and unable to retort, didn't notice Jiang Cheng walking toward them.

Only when murmurs reached them did they—and Lin Weiwei—turn toward his approach.

She saw a heart-stoppingly Handsome Guy heading their way.

Lin Weiwei glanced at the twins.

Finding Jiang Cheng's gaze glued to the pair, she felt a surge of nameless anger, chest tight and stifling.

Subconsciously she thrust out her chest, fingers hooking the strap of her limited-edition designer bag, deliberately swinging the bag forward so its conspicuous logo glinted in the sun.

She refused to believe that with her outfit and looks she couldn't outshine those plainly dressed girls.

In her mind Lin Weiwei didn't take Jiang Cheng for an outsider.

She simply assumed he was another Handsome Guy from some grade.

Most students here had heard of her.

In truth, girls and boys weren't that different.

Once people had money, they turned bad.

Men chased young beauties; women chased young hunks.

Though only a freshman,

since arriving she'd already dated several boyfriends.

After all, this was the Modu Academy of Drama—campus was full of Handsome Guys.

Many actively approached her, hoping to use her connections to get resources.

She swept her eyes over Jiang Cheng's outfit,

noting the excellent fabric and the new-season designer shoes.

From that she judged he probably came from a well-off family within the school.

Yet even if Jiang Cheng's background was good, Lin Weiwei was confident she could win him over.

After all, she was famous around here.

Whether in looks or social circle, she had plenty to show off.

Guys without power flocked to her like bees to a blossom.

Even proud hunks usually liked girls flush with cash like her.

And as long as she undressed quickly enough, most boys couldn't escape her grasp.

With that thought her confidence soared; her smile grew smug and her bag-swinging more natural.

The moment Jiang Cheng stepped up, Lin Weiwei blocked his path.

Putting on a practiced sweet smile, she cooed, "Handsome, you look unfamiliar. I'm Lin Weiwei; you can look me up on the campus forum if you want to know me…"

She even gave her bag a deliberate shake, eyes blatantly flaunting her worth.

Though Jiang Cheng didn't know how Lin Weiwei was related to Si Nian and Si Qing,

from the sisters' expressions it was clear she was no best friend.

He swept her an indifferent glance, a faint sneer tugging at his lips.

With odd detachment he said, "So young and already can't hold a bag steady? Don't tell me you've come down with Pasjin Syndrome?"

The barbed remark landed like a public slap; Lin Weiwei's face darkened instantly.

She spun to lash back at him,

only to watch Jiang Cheng step past her toward the twins.

Gently he asked, "Cold? Why didn't you wait upstairs for me?"

The instant they saw him, the twins' grievances melted away.

Shy blushes replaced their pouts.

They shook their heads softly. "It's not cold today; we just came down."

Watching this, jealousy and rage clouded Lin Weiwei's mind.

Scornfully she spat, "So you're here to chase them? You've got lousy taste—such cheap goods…"

At that Jiang Cheng's smile froze, his expression turning icy.
