Chapter 1683 - I think… I believe in love again.

Flustered, Su Wan gave another light pat through the fabric.

She tried to smooth Jiang Cheng's temper. "That's not what I meant—calm down…"

But she quickly realized the more she moved, the worse things got… mm, youth really is wasted on the young—or maybe the Great Sage's return ability is just that broken.

Last night with the Twin Sisters he'd already been "active" twice; moments ago with Zhou Ying he'd "cooperated" another two times.

He'd just stepped off the battlefield with Yu Xiaoxiao, and now he was sniping Su Wan.

Any normal man would already be pale… but for Jiang Cheng it wasn't even a warm-up.

The sensation was even clearer than when he'd first acquired the Great Sage's return.

At first it had simply erased fatigue.

But as time passed he felt sharper, stronger—almost reborn.

Could long-term use of the skill actually remould his body?

Hiding behind a mask of sorrow, Jiang Cheng turned beast on the spot.

Yu Xiaoxiao wasn't in the room, but they shared the same apartment.

Round it up and this counted as "together".

Like Su Wan moments earlier, once Yu Xiaoxiao left the bathroom she'd have nowhere to run.

She could only retreat back into it.

Still, with all three under one roof, rounding up meant "all together", right?

In fact, the thrill felt even sharper than last night with the twins.

Jiang Cheng's sudden pounce caught Su Wan off guard.

Of course she tried to resist.

Sadly, resistance was futile.

Leaving aside the beast's effortless strength,

didn't a part of her want this?

The past half-hour of voyeurism had already stirred her.

So while her mind refused, her body surrendered at once.

She welcomed the beast's bite.

If Yu Xiaoxiao had yielded, what shame was there in her doing the same?

Just as Su Wan yelped beneath the beast, the bathroom lock clicked.

Yu Xiaoxiao stepped out, cheeks scarlet. Instead of retreating,

she stood rooted, eyes unblinking—payback in full.

Su Wan had watched her; now it was her turn.

Besides, she remembered the promise she'd given Jiang Cheng: she only wanted to stay by him, on call whenever he needed, never meddling in his private life.

Even if he slept with other women she wouldn't be angry.

Seeing this, she felt an unexpected relief.

Those words had been spoken on only their second meeting.

Though her favorability toward him was sky-high and every aspect of him satisfied her,

part of the pledge had been a coaxing tactic to secure her own needs.

The better he treated her, the more genuine her love became.

She'd feared she might break that promise.

Yet watching them stirred no jealousy—only an urge to slip behind Jiang Cheng and join in.

She felt odd, yet secretly relaxed.

Jiang Cheng was everything to her now.

As long as he treated her well, she would support whatever he did.

Moreover, he gave her far more than Su Wan received—what cause had she for discontent?

Half an hour later Jiang Cheng stretched a hand toward her.

When she didn't move he feigned heartbreak: "She was the first woman I ever loved. I laid my heart at her feet and let her string me along. When she flirted with others I even brainwashed myself—she's not trash, she's just social…"

Seeing him sink into sorrow again, Yu Xiaoxiao no longer cared that Su Wan lay limp on the sofa.

Her favorability for him had long since hit one hundred percent.

If he hurt, she wished she could bear the pain for him.

She even convinced herself: his excesses were all because of Zhao Jia.

His loss of control came from a heart shattered beyond repair.

If indulgence could make him happy, why deny him?

She hurried over and sat on his other side, slipping an arm through his. "Hubby, don't waste tears on someone unworthy. Wanwan and I will never let you down…"

After speaking she patted Su Wan's pert bottom, signalling her to chime in.

During the half-hour of observation she'd rehearsed countless speeches for Su Wan.

Since the deed was done, running was pointless.

Besides, Su Wan had once declared: Yu Xiaoxiao would be first wife, she the lesser.

Awkward as the moment was, she must show the grace of the senior.

Su Wan had hoped to lie still and play dead, but Yu Xiaoxiao's nudge left no room for pretence.

How could she keep faking now?

Clutching the shirt Jiang Cheng had tossed aside to cover her chest, she sat up reluctantly, still dazed.

How had she been devoured by both of them? Not unwilling—just… weird once reality sank in.

Reading her thoughts, Jiang Cheng seized the moment, an arm around each.

He asked mournfully, "Do you two truly love me?"

Yu Xiaoxiao had once put the same question to him.

She remembered how insecure she'd felt then.

So now she answered at once: "Hubby, of course I love you. I'll love you all my life, no matter what becomes of you."

Su Wan, hearing such smooth devotion,

flushed crimson and stopped dwelling on how Jiang Cheng had duped her.

She hurried to pledge her own heart.

"Jiang Cheng, like Sister Xiaoxiao, I'll love you forever…"

The "sorrow" in Jiang Cheng's eyes vanished, replaced by triumph.

Looks like the con had worked perfectly.

He tightened his embrace, voice low and victorious. "With you two here… I think I believe in love again."

At those words Yu Xiaoxiao and Su Wan exchanged glances, their hearts melting into puddles.
