Chapter 36 Fight for Dawn
Kai woke up and looked at Toki sleeping in his arms. He blinked, then hugged her tighter and closed his eyes again. As for the war… that could wait.
Toki opened her eyes, sensing he was awake. "You're up. Let's go, we have a war to fight."
Kai opened one eye lazily. "War can wait five more minutes."
Toki sighed as her body dissolved into a swarm of bats, slipping out of Kai's grasp. "Oii," Kai protested.
The bats merged back into Toki's form in front of him. She crossed her arms and looked at him sharply.
"You didn't meet Yamato when you came back, did you?" Toki asked.
Kai froze.
Toki smirked. "You wouldn't want Yamato to get angry and—"
Kai shot up instantly, battle spirit flaring. "Yoshiiiiii!"
Toki blinked in surprise.
"Let's go, we have a war to fight!" Kai shouted and dashed out.
"Oiii! Don't start the damn war alone! Wait for me, you idiot!" Toki yelled as bat wings formed on her back and she flew after him.
Kai had already taken to the sky, heading straight toward Onigashima.
---
Kai wore the Oni Mask as his size began to increase. His body expanded to nearly fifty meters, four massive golden-red flaming wings spreading wide.
The sky darkened as thunderclouds gathered violently above him.
Hidden samurai noticed the signal. Usimaru led forces to attack Udon prison, while Kawamatsu, Denjiro, Ashura, and others followed Hiyori toward the Shogun's castle.
Across Wano, people looked up in shock at the towering figure flying toward Onigashima.
---
Den Den Mushi rang as reports spread.
Inside Onigashima, King received the news and walked toward Kaido. "Kaido-sama, the samurai are attacking Udon and the Shogun's castle with Oden's daughter."
"And there are reports of a giant samurai with flaming wings flying toward Onigashima."
Kaido frowned slightly. "Worororo… the rats have guts. And a giant in Wano?"
King replied calmly, "It's most likely the Oni Samurai using his Devil Fruit ability."
Kaido's grin turned feral. "Worororo! That damned bastard dares to come back? This time, he won't escape."
He picked up his kanabo and headed toward the rooftop.
---
Inside the Shogun's castle, Orochi was panicking.
"Where is Kaido?! Call him here now! Those damn samurai are coming for me!" he screamed.
He trashed everything around him in fear.
---
Kai shrank back to his adult size as Onigashima came into view. Toki flew beside him, calm but focused.
"You take care of King. I'll deal with Kaido," Kai said.
Toki nodded, then asked, "And when Yamato joins?"
Kai smirked. "Then leave King to her. You handle the rest."
Toki's eye twitched. "Why should I? You think I'll lose to King?"
Kai grinned. "If she's not occupied, she'll jump in and ruin my fight."
Toki felt the urge to cut him down right there.
"Tsk… fine," she said, clearly annoyed.
Kai smirked again. "How about we find Shusui while we're at it?"
"Deal," Toki replied immediately. "Let's take back Wano's treasure."
Her hand rested on the sword at her waist. The Ame no Habakiri a Grate Grade Sword used by Oden alongside Enma. Kai had insisted she should use it and with Hayori's Aproval she started using it.
Her mouth twiched everytime she remembers Hayori and Kai's words "leaving such a good Blade to someone like Momonosuki is a waste of the sword"
Hayori had nodded like a chicken "Big brother is a cowerd if Aunt Toki use it it will be better. "
---
Kai spotted Kaido standing on the rooftop, drinking as he stared at him.
Kai grinned behind the mask and drew Akatsuki. Dark crimson lightning coiled around the blade.
"Worororo! Come, you bastard! I've been waiting to kick your ass!" Kaido roared, his kanabo coated in Conqueror's Haki.
In an instant, both vanished.
Their wills clashed before their weapons even met.
The space between them exploded as their Conqueror's Haki surged upward, splitting the heavens apart.
---
Far away, the Perfume Yuda sailed through the Grand Line, pulled by two massive snakes.
A pirate ship appeared on the horizon.
The captain laughed. "Boys, it's Kuja! Let's capture them!"
The vice-captain grinned lustfully. "Hehehe… I heard all Kuja are beauties. Let's have some fun, captain."
The crew cheered.
"Move closer!" the captain shouted. "Let's enjoy ourselves!"
---
Sandersonia and Marigold watched calmly as the ships approached.
Cannons fired toward them.
"Bow," Sandersonia ordered.
The Kuja warriors grabbed their snakes, hardening them like bows.
"Arrow," Marigold commanded.
Arrows flew.
The pirates laughed—until the arrows pierced through the cannonballs and detonated them midair.
"What?! How can arrows destroy cannonballs?!" the captain shouted.
The remaining arrows rained down.
Within minutes, the pirate crew was annihilated.
---
The Kuja calmly looted the treasure.
Marigold smiled. "Hehe… with pirates this weak, big sister won't even need to act."
Sandersonia nodded.
The ship moved on, searching for the next prey.
---
Back in Wano, the war had begun.
A war that would change the era.
