Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: The Suns’ Dazzling Run-and-Gun

In that instant,

everyone was stunned. No one saw how the ball slipped out of Spencer Hawes' hands. The loose ball dropped right beside Blake Su, who snatched it up.

Go!

Blake Su, Steve Nash, and Curry took off toward the frontcourt.

The Suns were running.

Andre Iguodala reacted quickly on the perimeter. Seeing a three-on-one break forming, he rushed in and committed a tactical foul on Blake Su.

Better to send him to the line than give up an easy fast-break bucket.

"Beep—beep!"

The whistle blew.

Foul on Andre Iguodala.

It had all happened in the blink of an eye. Only after the whistle did a faint smile appear on Blake Su's face.

"[Eagle Spear]… pretty impressive."

That's right.

Even without turning around, he relied on his razor-sharp steal instincts. The moment Hawes brushed past him to complete the drive, Blake Su's hand shot out—fast, precise, ruthless.

Clean strip.

That was the true strength of [Eagle Spear]. The slightest lapse, the tiniest opening—and Blake Su would seize it instantly.

Thud.

Blake Su stepped to the free-throw line as the big screen replayed the sequence. Only then did the crowd understand what had happened.

"Hahaha!"

Mark Jackson burst out laughing.

"My goodness! A steal without even looking back? That was divine—so hidden, so sharp!"

"Tsk tsk…"

Jon Barry shook his head.

"I'd bet my entire fortune that Blake Su's brilliant 'no-look strip' is making tomorrow's Top 5 Plays."

"Betting your fortune again?"

Mark Jackson raised an eyebrow. "Guess I'll have to call the league's video department."

"You…"

On the court—

Swish.

Swish.

Blake Su hit both free throws.

Thanks to [Eagle Spear], it was a perfect steal-to-fast-break sequence.

Even after watching the slow-motion replay, Hawes still couldn't figure out how Blake Su had taken the ball from him so cleanly.

76ers (0) : (4) Suns.

Philadelphia ball.

Holiday brought it up, faked left, then fed Iguodala cutting toward the free-throw line. Iguodala powered through Carter and lofted a high-arcing bank attempt.

Clang!

No good.

Blake Su secured the rebound and immediately pushed it out to Nash.

At the top, Curry drifted right off Blake Su's screen. Nash swung it over.

Open look?

Clang!

Blake Su caught it and fired from three—missed.

Even with [Peak Curry Three-Point Shot], he wasn't going to hit every attempt.

But Frye grabbed the offensive rebound.

Kick-out.

Nash reset it, swung to Blake Su, who kept it moving without hesitation. The ball zipped to Curry.

Quick release—

Swish!

Nothing but net.

Next possession.

Blake Su faced Hawes again at the left wing. Ball in his left hand, he lowered his stance and gave a sharp hesitation.

Thump, thump, thump!

Hawes panicked, retreating three steps. For a center he wasn't slow—but in front of Blake Su, he suddenly looked stiff and clumsy.

Blake Su rose smoothly.

Three-pointer.

Swish!

Clean through.

"Blake Su is scoring way too easily! Hawes can't apply any pressure at all. A 10–0 run to start the game—what a nightmare opening for the 76ers!"

Jon Barry exclaimed.

Mark Jackson nodded.

"Jon, have you noticed? Blake Su and Curry—their shooting forms look similar.

Not textbook mechanics, but fast… and deadly accurate."

Jon Barry thought for a moment, then nodded repeatedly.

"You're right. Both release incredibly quickly. But in terms of pure shot-making? Blake Su is even more unreasonable."

"Bingo."

Beep—beep!

The 10–0 burst forced a timeout from the 76ers.

But even after the break, the Suns were just getting started.

"Brand drives hard to the rim, floats it up in traffic—no! Rebound tipped out by Hawes! Nash grabs it at the free-throw line!

Wow—Curry and Blake Su are already sprinting! So fast!

Nash fires a long pass to Curry at the top. Pull-up three? No—bounce pass!

Holiday can't recover!

Blake Su catches at the left elbow, one dribble, gathers—three steps! He explodes upward!

Meeks can only backpedal!

Boom!

Blake Su soars and hammers it home!"

"Iguodala drives left, tries to attack the paint—help defense from Blake Su!

Layup attempt—

Denied!

A massive block, like a wall in the sky!

The ball ricochets out—Nash secures it!

Go!

Another Suns fast break! Nash drives the lane, rises—how will he finish?

Behind-the-head pass!

Curry arrives at the left corner—

Catch and fire!

Bang!

Three-pointer!

From Blake Su's block to Nash's push to Curry's finish—the entire sequence flowed like water. That's Suns basketball!"

"Holiday loses the handle! Carter dives into the paint and tips it out!

Nash collects, swings it crosscourt—Blake Su leaps sideways at midcourt to grab it!

Mid-air dish!

Curry catches at the top, drives straight at Iguodala. Into the paint—

Curry flips it behind him!

Blake Su reads it perfectly, cutting in from behind—

Bang!

Alley-oop slam!"

"Meeks answers with a tough three over Curry! The home crowd finally has something to cheer about!

But the Suns push it immediately—

Curry drives, kicks to Nash, cuts baseline, finds Carter in the left corner—

Back out to Curry circling up top—

Open shot?

No!

Extra pass to Blake Su at the arc—

He rises—

Bang!

Pure.

Incredible ball movement! Dazzling fast breaks! This breathtaking sequence—

The Suns' run-and-gun… is back!"

Mark Jackson's voice climbed with every possession, rapid-fire and impassioned. His thunderous commentary blended perfectly with the Suns' mesmerizing run-and-gun offense, setting the entire arena ablaze.
