Although Blake Su knew it could not possibly be Sadako, a person dressed entirely in white, with loose hair hanging down and covering her face, crouching there in the middle of the night, was more than enough to make his imagination run wild, especially since he liked horror movies.
"Whoosh."
A cold gust of wind blew past, making him shiver and sending a chill down his spine.
Out of sight, out of mind. It had to be some girl who had fought with her boyfriend and was sulking by the roadside. Yes... that had to be it.
Blake Su comforted himself and turned to leave.
But just then, the woman crouching on the curb, her hair hanging loose, suddenly raised her head.
The deathly pale face beneath that curtain of hair looked even more like Sadako.
"Hiss!"
The moment Blake Su saw that face, his pupils shrank, his hair stood on end, and he immediately turned to leave.
"Blake~~"
But that "Sadako" called his name directly.
"She knows my name? Sa... Sadako is haunting me?!"
That call truly scared Blake Su badly. He ignored her completely and turned to leave, but "Sadako" had already walked over.
She grabbed Blake Su by the arm.
"It really is you, Blake! I can't believe I ran into you at a time like this. This is wonderful!"
"Sadako's" clear, bell-like laughter rang out.
Wait. That voice sounds familiar. And her hand is warm!
Gradually coming back to his senses, Blake Su steadied himself and looked over. Only then did he realize that the "Sadako" in front of him was actually Yoona.
"Damn!"
Even though the person in front of him was the beautiful Yoona, Blake Su still could not help cursing under his breath as he wiped the faint cold sweat from his forehead.
"Hm? What's wrong?"
Yoona frowned in confusion. "Blake, you look like you got scared."
"No... no..."
Blake Su quickly shook his head. There was no way he was going to tell Yoona that she had scared him. He changed the subject and asked, "Yoona, what happened?
"Why are you crouching by the roadside alone?"
"Sigh..."
At that, Yoona let out a faint sigh, then explained the whole situation to Blake Su.
As it turned out, Yoona had gone to Arizona State University during the day, the same place Blake Su and Mia Quinn had visited before, and one of the five best college towns in America.
She had gone there to meet a female childhood friend.
Then, that night, her friend suddenly had something urgent come up and could not stay with her. Yoona, who had originally planned to spend the night there, had no choice but to head back to Los Angeles, where Jessica was still waiting for her.
Unfortunately, she had left her bag in her childhood friend's car.
Her ID, passport, cash, and everything else were all in that bag. All she had in her pocket was her phone.
She only realized the problem after arriving at the airport. Even worse, her phone suddenly went black and would not turn on.
As for phone numbers, the only one she remembered was Jessica's.
And what made it even worse was that when she borrowed a passerby's phone to call Jessica, the phone was already turned off.
It was nearly eleven at night. Jessica had already gone to sleep.
So Yoona, with nothing on her and having missed her flight, immediately panicked.
On that cold night, she was stranded alone by the curb, hoping her phone would suddenly start working again while lowering her head and thinking about what to do.
With her head lowered, her long straight hair naturally fell forward and covered her face. Lost in thought, she did not even notice it.
That was how the "Sadako" Blake Su had just seen came to be.
And so, the truth about "Sadako" was revealed.
Blake Su listened as if he were hearing a story, and once he understood, he felt completely relieved. He smiled and blurted out, "So that's what happened. I really thought you were Sadako just now."
"Sadako?"
Yoona looked completely confused.
"Ah, it's nothing!"
Blake Su shook his head, rubbed his chin, thought for a moment, and said, "Given the situation, it's already so late, and you don't have your ID or passport.
"No matter what, you can't get back to Los Angeles now. You can't even check into a hotel."
"Yeah."
Yoona rubbed her slightly cold hands, clearly troubled by the same thing.
Blake Su took off his coat and draped it over Yoona's shoulders, then said, "If you don't mind, and if you don't want to stay at some very cheap private inn, you can stay at my place for the night.
"Tomorrow, I'll go with you to get your bag, and we can get your phone fixed along the way. Then you can go back."
"Um..."
After all, it meant staying at a stranger's house. Even if he was her crush, Yoona still hesitated for a moment before finally nodding.
"Right now... I guess that's the only option."
"Then let's go."
Blake Su walked straight toward the car, and Yoona followed behind him.
Along the way, Yoona said gratefully, "I'm really lucky I ran into you. Otherwise, I honestly wouldn't have known what to do."
"That's true."
Blake Su smiled faintly and said, "No passport, no ID, no phone, and no money on you. On top of that, it's nearly midnight.
"If you hadn't run into someone you knew, you might really have ended up sleeping on the street tonight."
"Hehehe!"
Yoona smiled brightly. "Don't make it sound so scary. Besides, I ran into you now, so I don't have to worry anymore.
"By the way, why were you at the airport alone so late? Were you seeing someone off?"
"Uh..."
Blake Su honestly told her what he had been doing just now.
"Hehe!"
Yoona laughed. "Then I really should thank myself. If I hadn't given you that photo, and you hadn't gone to the car to get it, I might not have run into you tonight."
"That makes sense."
They chatted casually along the way and soon returned to the villa.
Since Mia Quinn had stayed there for a few days before, there was no shortage of women's daily necessities. Seeing that everything was available, Yoona asked, "Blake, do you have a girlfriend?"
"No. Why?"
Blake Su answered.
"Nothing. Just asking."
Yoona pursed her lips and did not ask further.
"Gurgle, gurgle!"
At that moment, Yoona's stomach started growling.
"Hungry? Want something for a late-night snack?"
Blake Su asked.
"Hehe!"
Yoona rubbed her stomach and gave him a big smile. "If there's something to eat, I wouldn't mind having a little."
Blake Su nodded. "I was thinking of eating something too. Go look in the storage room for some snacks first. I'll go out and buy something."
"Oh, thank you, Blake!"
Yoona nodded with a smile.
She had not expected Blake Su to be this considerate off the court.
About half an hour later, Blake Su came back with a large box of fragrant barbecue skewers and two bowls of hot soup.
"Wow~"
Smelling the barbecue, Yoona could not help crying out.
"Eat while it's hot."
"Okay!"
Both of them were hungry, and so began a pleasant late-night snack session.
People often said women were all foodies.
That might not apply to every woman, but it certainly applied to Yoona. With one skewer in each hand, the foodie Yoona ate while smiling and asking, "Blake, earlier you kept saying 'Sadako, Sadako.' Isn't that the female ghost from The Ring movie series?
"Why did you keep mentioning her?"
Buzz.
It would have been fine if she had not brought it up, but the moment she did, Blake Su immediately became interested.
He glanced at the time. It was already past midnight.
Then he looked at Yoona and asked with a smile, "Yoona, want to watch The Ring?"
