Rain collapsed in Cealan's arms faster than anyone could breathe, while blood spilled down the corner of his mouth, staining Cealan's long sleeve, but he didn't care, not when he was yet to process whatever was happening. For a split second, everything paused. His eyes were closed before he could say a word.
"Rain...Rain!" Cealan shook him desperately, his eyes darkened, and Moon gained half control without seeking permission. "What...who made this...Malik!" Cealan growled.
Too much was happening in seconds. He quickly carried Rain up and headed towards the bedroom, his heart pounding harder than ever. Idris didn't come to check why the alpha had screamed for the physician so urgently; he ran to get him. Viola, on the other hand, stood by the table frozen, her hands trembling as she reached for the crumbs of pastry. Tears streamed down her face with remorse.
