Everything stopped again.
That silver wolf on the road pulled the whole yard with it. Even the horses seemed to feel it. One of them reared hard enough to nearly throw its rider. Guards started shouting. Somebody on the wall yelled for archers. Nobody knew where to aim.
Lyria stared through the open gate and felt her stomach twist.
The wolf was silver.
The same shade that had shown up in her own fur when she shifted.
Her chest went tight. Kael's wolf moved in front of her at once, low and ready, fur raised. Selene had gone dead still beside her. That alone told Lyria the thing at the gate was not some random stray.
Mira swore under her breath. "Nope. Absolutely not. I am not doing another weird surprise wolf thing tonight."
Ronan's grip tightened on his blade. "Tell me that is not what I think it is."
