After dinner, Nonna excused herself, she had her favorite show to watch.
Eve and Dimitri moved to his office.
She pulled out her laptop, opened her notes.
"Okay," she said. "So I spent today researching the people on your list. The ones you and Mike identified as potential recruits."
Dimitri's expression shifted slightly. "Eve..."
"Before you say anything, just look." She turned the laptop toward him. "Giovanni Ricci. You guys identified him as mercenary, follows money. But I found something else."
She walked him through what she'd discovered. The villa. The unpaid taxes. The underground construction.
"He's not just a weapons supplier," Eve said. "He's running something for your father out of that villa. Something big enough that he spent 3 million euros building secret facilities. Which means he's more compromised than you thought. You'll need leverage, not just better terms."
