POV: EVE
Eve woke at 3:47 AM to darkness and the sound of Dimitri's breathing.
She lay still for a moment, letting her eyes adjust, watching him sleep beside her.
He was on his back, one arm thrown over his head, his chest rising and falling in the slow rhythm of deep sleep. The sheets had slipped down to his waist, exposing the hard planes of muscle, the dark ink of his tattoos, the scars that told stories he rarely shared.
Beautiful, dangerous and completely hers.
And in a few hours, he'd be gone.
Flying to Italy for his first real move against his father. Meeting with Giovanni Ricci...the weapons supplier who followed money over loyalty, the man Dimitri hoped to turn.
Two weeks of planning had led to this.
Two weeks of strategy sessions with Mike, of Marco gathering intelligence, of Dimitri memorizing every detail about Giovanni's operations, his weaknesses, his pressure points.
And now it was time.
Eve felt something tighten in her chest.
