Eve smiled. That sounded exactly like Dimitri.
"How are his wounds? Really?"
"Healing well. The stitches can come out in a few days. No infection. He is stubborn and impatient, but he will be fine." Nonna turned, studied Eve's face. "Go to him. He has missed you today."
"I've only been gone since morning....."
"For a man who almost died two weeks ago, a day apart feels long." Nonna's eyes were knowing. "Go. Dinner will not be ready for another hour."
Eve didn't need to be told twice.
She walked down the hallway to their bedroom, her body already anticipating seeing Dimitri.
It had been two weeks since he'd been shot. Two weeks of careful touches, gentle kisses, sex where she controlled everything to avoid hurting his injuries.
Two weeks of restraint.
And Eve was starting to feel starved.
She opened the bedroom door quietly, expecting to find Dimitri on the bed or at his desk.
But the room was empty.
The sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Shower.
