POV: EVE
The water was hot.
Not scalding, but hot enough to feel therapeutic, to ease the tension from her muscles, to wash away the residue of fear and captivity that still clung to her skin despite everything.
Eve stood under the cascade, letting the water run over her face, her shoulders, her body.
She was alone in the shower, but she could feel the anticipation building in her chest. She knew he was coming. She'd heard the promise in his voice. "I'll join you very soon."
She was washing her hair when she heard the bathroom door open.
Eve didn't turn around. She kept her eyes closed, letting the water stream over her face, knowing without looking that it was Dimitri.
His presence filled the entire bathroom.
The glass shower door opened.
And Dimitri stepped inside.
