She tilted her head, studying him with the same quiet fascination she had shown moments before. "It is as though something recognized what you needed before you needed it, and prepared you accordingly."
The thought unsettled him more than he let show on his face. He had wondered, more than once since waking, whether everything that had happened to him within the dream had been accidental, a simple consequence of his wounded soul drifting through whatever possibilities Living Memory happened to encounter. Spirit Fairy's words suggested something far more deliberate, and he filed the thought away carefully, another piece of a puzzle he suspected he had barely begun to assemble.
