Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Finally

Chapter 68: Finally

Draco stared blankly at the slender figure standing in front of him.

At that moment, Tamara's back seemed impossibly tall in his eyes, like an invincible goddess of war.

"System," Tamara said inwardly.

"Use [Basic Mana Potion]."

[Ding! Potion used.]

[Within ten minutes, your magic will be restored to 100% of its peak. Enjoy the revelry, host.]

"Then can I kill Potter while I'm at it?" Tamara glanced at the savior lying on the ground, clutching his head in agony.

[Oh, no.]

The system sounded almost regretful.

Boom!

A terrifying surge of magic erupted from Tamara's body.

The fallen leaves around her were swept up by a violent gale, forming a vortex with her at its centre.

Her long hair whipped wildly in the wind, and a flash of red flickered through her originally black pupils. The pressure that belonged to the Dark Lord was released without restraint.

Harry, half conscious in the middle of his pain, barely managed to open his eyes and saw a scene he would never forget for the rest of his life.

The usually elegant and aloof Tamara was now giving off an aura even more terrifying than the dark shadow before them.

"Join you?"

Tamara looked at the dark shadow, and a sneer of utter scorn curled at her lips.

"You think you are worthy?"

"You are nothing but a failed remnant, a piece of trash barely surviving by parasitising others and drinking blood."

"I am Lord Voldemort," the dark shadow shrieked, its voice growing even sharper with rage. "I am eternal..."

"No, you're not."

Tamara raised her wand and pointed it at the shadow.

"You are just a failed past."

"Reducto!"

A blinding blue beam shot out like a cannonball.

The dark shadow clearly had not expected a first year girl to cast a spell of this level. It hastily threw up a shield.

Rumble!

The impact sent it flying backwards, snapping a large tree behind it in half.

"How is this possible..." the shadow hissed in disbelief. "This kind of power..."

"Surprised already?"

Tamara stepped forward, her wand moving like the wind.

"Incendio!"

But this was no ordinary fire making charm.

With the boost from her thirty one points of wisdom and her restored peak magic, what burst forth was not an orange red flame, but a giant serpent of fire.

The fire serpent roared as it charged at the dark shadow, reducing the plants in its path to ash.

The shadow rolled away in a miserable state. Quirrell's body had already been weakened by the main soul's prolonged torment and could not endure a high intensity duel. And though the main soul itself was powerful, it was still constrained by this ruined shell.

"Cruciatus Curse!"

The shadow no longer held back. A crimson bolt, like a streak of blood, hissed through the air, carrying the malice of soul rending torment.

Faced with the Unforgivable Curse, Tamara did not dodge.

Instead, her mouth curved into a crazed and joyous smile.

It was the long lost thrill of controlling life and death.

Under the effect of the potion, the magic circuits that had lain dormant in her body for so long were singing.

Since this was the Forbidden Forest, and since the only witnesses were a few first year brats who knew nothing, there was no longer any need to hold back.

Tamara flicked her wand sharply, the motion elegant and cruel, like the scythe of death itself.

"Avada Kedavra!"

A blinding green light, carrying the chill of death, exploded from the tip of her wand.

Boom!

The crimson lightning and the green light of death collided violently in midair.

Neither side crumbled at once. The two surges of magic, born from the same soul yet utterly opposed, tore and twisted together in the air.

The blinding radiance lit up the entire Forbidden Forest, turning night into day and making everything look warped and unreal.

Harry covered his eyes, feeling the shockwave slam into him so hard he could barely breathe.

And Tamara, standing at the centre of the storm, was savouring this ultimate release.

Finally... finally, she could use it again.

That exquisite feeling of watching green death devour everything. That absolute power over life itself.

The ecstasy of using Dark Magic once more made her heart race. Magic surged through her veins, and even the depths of her eyes were tinged with unmistakable madness.

"Hahahaha..."

She could not help letting out a low laugh as she poured even more power into the spell.

"You are too weak now!"

Tamara did not move an inch, while the dark shadow staggered backwards yet again.

"Who... are you..."

The shadow was afraid.

It could feel it.

Its opponent not only possessed a soul from the same source, but also a power that was more complete and more potent than its current self.

It was the potential of a peak state.

"Who I am does not matter," Tamara said, her voice bright with a joy she had not felt in ages.

"What matters is that it is time for you to die."

The dark shadow let out an unwilling roar.

It knew it would gain nothing tonight.

Dumbledore could arrive at any moment, and the girl in front of it was an even greater threat.

It cast Tamara one last venomous glare, then dissolved into a cloud of black mist and fled into the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

The battle was over.

Tamara remained where she was and did not pursue.

As the effect of the [Basic Mana Potion] began to fade, a fierce wave of dizziness hit her.

But what shocked her more than the dizziness was the return of her reason.

She froze.

She had been too caught up in the moment. She had actually used Avada Kedavra right in front of Harry and Draco.

If she wanted to remain at Hogwarts, she needed an explanation for what they had just seen.

"Damn it..."

Her fingers tightened slightly around her wand, and a trace of killing intent flashed through her eyes.

With this cursed system in her head, she could not simply eliminate the witnesses.

Should she erase the memories of those two brats?

Her magic was already fading. Whether she could even cast Obliviate properly was uncertain.

Just as she was about to turn and see how they had reacted.

[Ding! A friendly reminder from the system.]

That infuriating electronic voice rang out again, bright and cheerful.

[Detected that the host has just used an extremely uncivilised, discordant, and restricted level spell.]

[To safeguard the physical and mental health of teenagers and create a positive campus atmosphere, this system automatically activated an all ages harmony filter during the battle.]

Tamara went still.

"Harmony filter?"

[Yes. In the eyes of all bystanders except you and the target, that violent green light just now has been automatically replaced with a fire making spell.]

[And that brutal incantation has also been automatically masked as electronic static.]

[Please rest assured, host. Although your methods are dirty, the system has cleaned them up for you. There is no need to thank me. This is the duty of the virtue system.]
