"I understand!" Naruto rubbed the tip of his nose and confidently walked toward the big tree.
He then closed his eyes and formed hand signs, looking as if he truly understood what to do.
Sakura and Sasuke watched him with puzzled expressions, waiting to see what he would do next.
Could Naruto, the dead last, actually succeed?
"You guys just watch. Tree climbing is nothing difficult!" Naruto pressed his feet against the tree trunk and quickly ran upward.
He had only taken one step.
Bang.
Naruto fell heavily to the ground with all four limbs flailing, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Ahhh, it hurts, it hurts!" Naruto clutched the back of his head and rolled on the ground in pain.
Everyone present twitched slightly at the corners of their mouths.
"Idiot," Sakura said as she covered her face, unable to bear watching him.
"Super big idiot," Sasuke said speechlessly. He had just thought this dead last might have figured out the trick.
Naruto said irritably, "You can't even climb it yourself, and you still dare to mock me?"
"I am from the Uchiha Clan. Don't compare me to a dead last like you," Sasuke said as he walked toward the tree with his hands in his pockets.
He lifted his foot and pressed it against the tree trunk. After a moment, his face turned slightly red, and he quietly withdrew his foot.
How exactly was he supposed to climb?
If he had continued just now, he probably would have ended up falling like that idiot Naruto.
"Oh, our great genius, why did you withdraw your foot? How strange," Hyuga Renji said as he covered his mouth and snickered.
"Pfft pfft pfft, so amusing."
Naruto pointed at Sasuke while clutching his stomach and laughing loudly, "Hahaha, smug Sasuke, you can't do it either!"
"Shut up!" Sasuke growled.
His hands clenched inside his pockets as he lowered his head. His black hair covered his eyes, but everyone could see his face had turned red.
"Oh oh oh, why is your face so red? Don't be so shy," Hyuga Renji teased.
He really enjoyed watching arrogant geniuses embarrass themselves.
Sakura ignored them and instead carefully thought about Renji's earlier explanation.
Feel chakra, then make chakra flow to the soles of your feet.
She looked down at her toes thoughtfully.
How exactly should she control chakra to flow there?
"Dismissed. You have free time until tomorrow. Whether you eat, sleep, or train diligently is up to you," Hyuga Renji said calmly.
"Team 7 has a mission tomorrow, so all of you must complete tree climbing training within three days."
"Yay, finally I can eat!" Naruto cheered.
As soon as he heard the word dismissed, he immediately pushed training to the back of his mind and planned to go eat several bowls of ramen.
He couldn't help it.
He had been hungry all day.
Sasuke and Sakura also quietly relaxed. They were already very tired.
"Those who complete the training first can move on to the next stage, which means you'll learn some very powerful techniques earlier than the others," Hyuga Renji added as an incentive.
"Very powerful techniques?" All three members of Team 7 looked confused.
"They're super powerful," Hyuga Renji said as he deliberately stretched the words.
He hadn't decided what techniques to teach Team 7 yet.
For now, he just needed motivation to help them complete their training faster.
Anyway, the Master-Disciple System would probably release more teaching missions later.
When that happened, he could simply complete them while continuing their training plan.
"Super awesome?" Team 7's eyes lit up immediately.
If Teacher Renji said they were super awesome, then they must be extremely powerful techniques.
The motivation he provided was especially tempting for Sasuke and Naruto.
Sasuke, in particular, was completely focused on gaining power.
Sakura also wanted to become stronger, but her determination was not as intense as Sasuke's.
"Teacher Renji, where are you going?" Sakura asked curiously.
Hyuga Renji paused for a moment, turning back with a casual smirk on his face.
He patted the wallet in his pocket and spoke in a relaxed, straightforward way:
"I'm going to the bar to spend time with some older sisters. I'll buy them drinks, have some fun, and enjoy the night with them. You know... adult stuff."
He shrugged lightly, still smiling.
"While you kids train hard, I'll be relaxing and having a good time with the ladies. Money well spent, right?"
Then he waved lazily and used the Body Flicker Technique, disappearing instantly.
"See you tomorrow, brats~"
Naruto stared at the place where Renji had vanished and shouted angrily.
"Bastard! You're using the money I worked so hard to save to go drink with older sisters!"
"Hooligan teacher," Sakura muttered as she curled her lips.
Using a student's money to go drinking and fooling around?
Was there any teacher in the entire ninja world who would do something like that?
Probably only Teacher Renji.
"So hungry, I want ramen," Naruto muttered as he checked his pockets, only to find them completely empty.
He had spent all his money on tuition.
Not a single coin left for ramen.
"Idiot, keep slacking off then. The one who gains power will definitely be me," Sasuke said.
Although he was also hungry, he had no intention of resting. He planned to finish the training quickly and then find Renji for the next stage.
Power.
He needed enough power for revenge.
"You arrogant jerk, Teacher Renji's super awesome technique will definitely belong to me, Uzumaki Naruto!" Naruto struggled to his feet with a bright and determined smile.
Since Sasuke was training, he would train too.
Even if he was starving, he would endure it.
He wanted to catch up with Sasuke.
Then surpass him.
Thud.
A large box suddenly landed on the ground nearby.
Team 7 looked over in confusion.
It was an ordinary cardboard box with a chibi-style portrait of Hyuga Renji pasted on its surface.
Naruto opened the box curiously and shouted excitedly, "This is instant noodles!"
"And bread! Wow, there's even fresh milk!" Naruto's stomach growled loudly as drool formed at the corner of his mouth.
Sakura glanced at the chibi portrait of Renji on the box.
All her earlier complaints instantly disappeared, and she smiled slightly as she muttered, "What is this? The portrait is so ugly."
"Teacher Renji is so nice!" Naruto said happily.
The moment they saw the portrait, all three of them immediately understood who had left the food.
Sasuke glanced inside the box, surprise flashing in his eyes. "There are even tomatoes?"
How did Renji know he liked tomatoes?
"Hmph," Sasuke snorted as he stuffed his hands back into his pockets and walked toward a distant tree.
He slowly closed his eyes and focused on sensing his chakra.
He wasn't interested in eating.
He only wanted power as soon as possible.
"Sasuke..." Sakura said worriedly.
Naruto spoke cheerfully with a sausage hanging from his mouth, "Don't worry about that arrogant guy. Let's eat quickly."
He really was starving.
"Wow, the sausage is so good."
"The instant noodles are finally ready. Let's eat."
"Hoo, hoo, so hot, so hot."
Naruto ate in huge mouthfuls.
Sasuke's face darkened slightly.
He tried to concentrate on sensing his chakra, but his eye twitched.
Finally, he couldn't endure it anymore.
He turned around and walked back toward the box.
"Idiot, the tomatoes are mine!"
