The rooftop was empty. The wind was cool. The city stretched out below them. Kaito sat on the edge. His legs dangled over the drop. Jin stood beside him. He did not sit. He waited. He was ready to listen.
Kaito took a breath. He had not planned this. He had never planned to say any of it. But Jin knew. Jin had chosen to stay. The secret was no longer his alone to carry.
Kaito said: "The cracks are failures in reality."
Jin said: "Like a tear in fabric."
Kaito said: "Yes. But the fabric is existence."
Jin nodded. He processed the image. He filed it away. He was building a mental model. Kaito watched him. It was strange to be understood without explanation. It was relief.
Kaito said: "Things come through. Entities. Spirits. Hungers."
Jin said: "Not all are hostile."
Kaito said: "No. Some are lost. Some are angry. Some are just hungry."
Jin said: "The cards."
