"What's his condition?" Scarface asked, deep worry etched on his face.
It's been three days since that fight with the monsters. The monsters had stopped coming but their boss was still unconscious.
The doctor sighed, shaking his head as he stepped away from the bed.
"Medically, he should be dead."
The room went still.
Scarface's jaw tightened. "That's not an answer."
"It's the only one that makes sense," the doctor replied, rubbing his tired eyes. "He had multiple fractures and shattered bones on his legs, ribs, shoulder, back, skull, and internal bleeding that should have killed him. He also incured severe trauma from blunt force and impact…" He glanced back at the De Warden lying on the bed. "And yet his vitals are somehow stable."
Bald Head frowned. "Stable, how?"
"His heart rate hasn't fluctuated once in the last twelve hours. Not even during pain response checks."
Scarface's eyes darkened. "Meaning? Is that a good thing?"
