De Warden's steps faltered.
His fingers scraped against the wall as he struggled to stay upright. The world twisted violently around him, tilting like reality itself had lost balance. A sharp ringing filled his ears, growing louder and louder with every pacing seconds until it drowned out everything else.
He clutched his head, teeth grinding so loudly you'd fear they'd shatter.
"Ghh—!"
Pain.
Not any ordinary pain. It was invasive. Crawling. Like something was inside him, digging through his thoughts, clawing at his mind. At everything that could reason.
And then, the voice returned.
'I told you to kill her.'
De Warden's breath hitched.
"No…" he rasped under his breath, jaw locked. "Shut up…"
However, the voice let out a maniacal laughter, filled with overflowing excitement.
De Warden's heartbeat spiked violently.
He'd thought he awakened superpowers like Jenna. But this wasn't it.
