For the next few hours before her system would come online, Jenna went shopping for electronic devices.
She wanted to get a couple of them, just for her siblings, to prepare their minds for the apocalypse.
Standing before a store, watching the sales person count the money she gave him, a child's demand caught her attention.
"Mummy, I want that new one!" the child standing a few stores away, cried with excitement, pointing at a tablet hung high on the display wall.
Jenna's eyes followed the tiny finger.
The screen was playing bright colored cartoons.
The mother, a pregnant woman, sighed tiredly. "Not today, Honey. We can't afford that one. Maybe when your papa returns, alright?"
However, the child pouted. "But Papa is not coming back."
The woman blinked, startled. "Who told you so?"
"The neighbor next door said that the night took Papa away."
