Chapter 1 - CH 1 - Bring back the past

Staring at the sky clouded by dark smoke.

The environment was broken.

The air was wrapped in explosives, ashes, and blood.

Harsh air seeped through the gaps in his nose.

He coughed.

His tired eyes were dry. Tears kept dripping off. Every time he blinked his eyes, he felt the pain spiking in.

The war was still raging on.

Men and creatures faced off with their strengths. Their cries and shouts rang through the terrors of the war.

But he wasn't afraid; the edge of his life was already close.

Though, he was still coping with the hope that was still in his feelings.

He tried to move his paralyzed body, swaying it slightly. Small movements, but still limp.

'Those soldiers' cries—'

'War is still going'

He coughed up blood while the pressure on his body lingered, the pain going through every part of him.

The organs were starting to fail; his heart beat fast, then slow.

As he coughed again, blood spilled out of his mouth and dripped down his neck.

This signaled the end of his life.

He slowly closed his eyes, meeting his own end, his final words in his thoughts still sounding like complaints.

'I am completely aware that i was the first to go down.' 'yet'

'Somethings telling me in my heart that my sole happiness weren't enough'

Blood tears dropped from his eyes.

'Other's burden was carried by me, because i was the most weak.'

'Is it my whole purpose in this world is kindness?' 'But—'

'What really is a kindness?'

'Though in other side of kindness there is evil.'

'Who is the enemy?'

For a moment of silence, the noise around him slowly faded; the war cries completely disappeared.

He sighed for the last time.

A voice echoed through the hollow depths of his mind. It was not his own.

"Hmm, i see"

"Fool that's your last words—?"

"If i were you i would question why my environment is so suffocating"

"You cannot even process the moment"

His left eye began to glow.

Traveling way back 11 years ago. The wretched quarter.

The local town named Dump etched village.

Where he lived through hardships with his mother, father, and two siblings.

Their hardworking father had promised a happy family, happier than ever before. But that promise met its own demise when a rifting havoc tore into the town.

A horde of creatures emerged from the rift, tearing through the houses.

Plants withered instantly, grass blackened like charcoal, and the leaves and wood of the trees suffered the same fate.

His father stared into the rift, blood gushing from his eyes after it splattered as another rift opened.

He collapsed to the floor inside their home, never moving again.

This terrified the siblings, while their mother screamed with all her lungs, shocked at the sight of her husband fallen.

Panic and worry gripped him as his mother quickly grabbed both siblings, calling his name.

He remained frozen in shock, watching people outside being massacred, blood spreading across the streets.

Sounds blurred until his mother shouted again and pressed a hand to his back, pulling him back to reality.

He turned to see his mother nod, and together they ran outside, joining the crowd fleeing the destruction.

From the shadows, a terrifying creature lunged at the crowd, shrieking.

Its body was light brown, its veins glowing bright as energy pulsed from its chest to its heart.

Long limbs stretched outward, with fingers sharp and deadly, feet like a bird's talons, and nails like daggers.

Its face was horrifying: vertical eyes with red pupils glowed inside black sockets.

The creature pressed its thighs to the ground, coiling like a spring. Its massive arms shot downward as it dove toward the people, slicing the air with deadly precision.

It killed all the villagers in sight.

The men in the village fought them head-on; even the weak were forced to fight.

Meanwhile, the others were escaping.

He and his family were running through the terrified crowds.

KRAAASH!

Creatures burst through walls, invading the people inside. Hiding was useless.

"AHHHH!" "HELP—!"

"RUNNN!"

"WAAHHH!"

"MOTHE—!"

The villagers' cries kept disappearing one by one. Their noises were loud, creepy, and terrifying.

The sounds of flesh and meat could be heard. The creatures' noises as they ate the people could be heard all around.

"Huff" "Huff" "Huff"

While running with his family, his hands covered his ears to reduce hearing the creatures. He forced himself to be fearless and stood firm on his own ground.

"Quickly! Gather around!"

"Women and children first!"

After running from the creatures, they reached a horse carriage.

But the line was too long for them to ride in it.

"Tsk!"

"This line is too long; we need to find one," his mother said.

He quickly followed his mother with his siblings.

"Mother!"

"Where's sister?"

"Your sister's finding the other stables."

Meanwhile, his sister ran through the tight crowds, finding another stable available. With the last bit of energy, she stood atop the boxes beside the stable and raised her hand, looking for her family.

Her mother noticed the small hand and quickly ran in that direction.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake, and cracks spread through the stables. The horses made noise.

"Quickly—!"

His sister helped his siblings get on board, as well as his mother.

"Mother! Quick, grab my hand!"

Lastly, it was now his turn to get on board. The surface suddenly began to shake rapidly and wildly, making the horse cower.

The horse carriage began to run wildly, leaving the others and him behind.

His mother shouted.

"Stop the horse! My son!"

The man replied back, "Forgive me—!" "Ack!"

"I cannot stop the horses anymore!"

His mother's eyes widened, and her anxiety grew more as she scurried to the back of the carriage to see Grassth.

"Grassth!" she cried for her son, who was left alone.

A horrifying creature suddenly gazed at their carriage and heard his mother's cries.

"SHRIEEK!!!"

The creature hurried and chased the wagon. Suddenly, Grassth shouted.

"Y-you stupid creature!"

"THUNK!"

He threw a rock at the giant in front of him.

His mother looked at the horrifying sight as she saw her son for the last time in front of the creature.

"N-no..."

Giant pillars suddenly fell at the entrance of the village, and smoke spread everywhere.

Grassth, horrified as he faced the creature in front of him, slowly stepped back. His heart beat fast, and his hands were shaking from the fear inside him.

"THUNK!"

He threw another rock at the creature's face.

"SKRREEE!"

The creature growled at Grassth.

Grassth had no time to think of escaping, except to accept his fate. All that was in his mind was getting brutally killed.

Suddenly, the creature stood, ready to lunge at Grassth.

His eyes were in tears. The world slowed down as the creature lunged at Grassth.
