The next day at noon, on the Tenth Floor of Nazarick's residential area.
"Where am I…?"
Staring at the unfamiliar ceiling above him, Naohara felt a brief moment of confusion.
"Oh right. I transmigrated. I'm not living in that tiny place anymore."
"First night in another world… and I actually slept pretty well."
He stretched as he got out of bed, then began getting dressed, planning to see what Momonga and Herohero were up to.
As for washing up, a simple cleansing spell was more than enough for him now.
Yggdrasil's magic system was incredibly comprehensive. Not only did it include devastating Super-Tier Magic, but it also covered all sorts of minor conveniences for daily life.
After straightening his clothes, Naohara opened the door and stepped outside—only to pause when he saw a figure standing there.
"Sephis?"
"Good morning, Father-sama."
"It's already noon, isn't it?"
"Then good afternoon, Father-sama."
Naohara looked at Sephis, who stood there respectfully, and sighed in mild exasperation. He didn't even need to ask. The boy had clearly been waiting all morning.
As the child he had personally created, Naohara understood Sephis's personality better than anyone.
"Come in, Sephis. Let's have a talk."
Turning back into the room, Naohara sat on the bed and patted the space beside him.
As his father, he felt it was time they had a proper conversation.
"Yes, Father-sama."
Sephis stepped inside and gently closed the door behind him.
It was his first time entering the room, and he couldn't help looking around with curiosity.
Ordinary. Completely ordinary.
Unexpectedly ordinary.
Sephis stared at the plain surroundings in disbelief.
In his mind, even if his father's room wasn't resplendent with gold and jewels, it certainly shouldn't look like this.
Even his own room was far more luxurious. Compared to this place, even the maids' quarters in Nazarick seemed better furnished.
It was hard to imagine that this was the room of Nazarick's ruler, one of the Supreme Beings.
"What's wrong? Not what you were expecting?"
Noticing his stunned expression, Naohara spoke gently.
"My apologies, Father-sama. I was just surprised… Why would you, a Supreme Being…"
"…live in such a simple room, is that it?"
Naohara finished the sentence for him when he trailed off.
Sephis wasn't the first to react like this. Back when Momonga and Peroroncino had visited his room, they'd asked the same question.
It wasn't that the room was shabby. In fact, it was quite decent. But in a game where everyone else tried to turn their rooms into palaces, his choice definitely stood out.
"I don't like that kind of over-the-top luxury. It's just a place to sleep. There's no need to make it extravagant."
"This is more than enough for me. I like it this way."
Naohara pulled Sephis to sit beside him on the bed and explained.
In truth, this room had been recreated based on memories from two lifetimes ago.
Living in a setting like this gave him a sense of comfort.
As the saying goes, a golden nest or a silver nest can't compare to your own humble home.
Of course, this wasn't exactly a humble home.
More like a dragon's lair.
"Alright, let's drop that topic."
"By the way, Sephis, you've already spoken with Aura and Mare, haven't you?"
Naohara looked at Sephis with curiosity. They were all his children, and he cared deeply about how they got along.
"Yes, Father-sama. I had a very good talk with them."
"Aura and Mare are now my most important family."
Recalling their earlier private conversation, Sephis smiled faintly.
They had found common ground easily—especially when it came to protecting Father-sama.
"That's good."
"Father-sama… may I ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"Father-sama, what is your relationship with the other two Supreme Beings?"
Thinking about the plan he had discussed with Aura, Sephis asked cautiously.
Although he suspected that the Supreme Being Herohero harbored ill intentions, he still wanted to hear his father's view. The matter was too serious, and he couldn't decide lightly.
Assassinating a Supreme Being… the plan was madness.
"Oh? That?"
Naohara smiled as memories of the past surfaced.
"They're family, Sephis. My most important family."
"…I see."
Sephis froze for a moment. That answer was not what he had expected.
"Then… if something were to happen to the other two Supreme Beings—"
"Sephis!!"
Before he could finish, Naohara cut him off sharply.
Dark golden dragon pupils locked onto Sephis. A terrifying pressure radiated from him, filling the room.
"There are no 'ifs,' Sephis. Remember that."
"If something happens without my knowledge, I will investigate it thoroughly."
"Momonga and Herohero are my most important family. Nothing will happen to them. Not now. Not ever."
The instant he sensed his father's anger, Sephis dropped to one knee without hesitation. Cold sweat streamed down his forehead.
He could feel the overwhelming pressure pouring off Naohara. Scales began emerging across his body as draconic traits surfaced. Sephis knew exactly what this meant—this was what happened when a Dragonoid fell into true anger.
"I understand, Father-sama. I will not allow either of them to come to any harm."
His heart pounded violently. He felt like a lone boat caught in a violent storm, at any moment liable to be overturned by monstrous waves.
All thoughts of probing further vanished. He made his promise without hesitation.
"That would be best, Sephis. Remember what I said. This is an order."
Naohara's dark golden eyes stared coldly at the child he had created.
He was not a fool. Sephis's question had tipped him off that something was wrong.
He didn't know exactly what Sephis was planning—but Momonga was his reverse scale. Whoever dared touch it would pay a price worse than death.
Even if that person was his own creation, he would not hesitate.
He could give them love. He could give them anything in this world, because they were family.
But there were lines that even family could not cross.
Even his own child would not be forgiven.
"Yes… Father-sama."
Sephis's voice trembled as he replied, fear rising uncontrollably in his chest.
He had only meant to test how Father-sama viewed the two Supreme Beings. But he had been careless. His blunt question had exposed too much.
He had been warned.
Father-sama had clearly sensed something and responded immediately.
Sephis even felt that if he had not been created by Father-sama himself, this encounter might have ended in disaster.
Father-sama had truly been angry just now. That look—as if he might kill him in the next second—had not been his imagination.
If he had hesitated even slightly, he would likely have been struck down without mercy.
"I believe in you, Sephis. Don't disappoint me. I don't want to see something I would regret."
Narrowing his eyes, Naohara slowly spoke as he looked at Sephis kneeling before him.
"Understood."
Sephis answered stiffly.
He was strong. Even if he fought Naohara, he could last for a time.
But for someone who had even entertained the extreme thought of killing a Supreme Being to safeguard Father-sama's status and dignity…
If it ever came to fighting Father-sama himself, he would rather take his own life.
"You may leave."
Sephis rose unsteadily, opened the door, and left the room.
Naohara watched his trembling back disappear, his own heart far from calm.
He had looked furious moments ago, but what he felt now was more complicated—heavy, suffocating.
"Was I too harsh?"
"After all, Sephis's intentions were ultimately for my sake."
He sighed.
The moment he imagined Momonga in danger, the instinct to kill had surfaced without hesitation.
His killing intent had surged out, enveloping Sephis as though he might strike him down at any moment to eliminate the threat.
Although he had regained control, he knew he had frightened him.
The way Sephis left—lonely and shaking—only made Naohara feel worse.
He had gone too far.
As a father, he shouldn't have let killing intent show. He should have guided him patiently.
For a child he had poured so much into, he should have corrected him gently—not with violence.
"To show killing intent toward my own child… Have I become the very thing I hate?"
"…I hope you won't resent me."
