Max opened his eyes, a slight headache throbbing in his head.
He was staring straight at the ceiling.
And then, a face appeared right in front of his. Smiling.
"…good morning, little pet."
It took Max half a second to react.
"…huh?"
But he didn't have time to process anything else.
Abby hugged him. Tight.
Max blinked, not reacting at first. Then he returned the hug. Still half asleep.
"…morning…"
His voice came out hoarse.
Moonlight crossed her arms from the side.
"…dad, you always pass out over everything."
Max turned his head slightly.
"…it's not that bad…"
Dorian sighed, leaning against the wall.
"…his body doesn't seem prepared to handle that much action."
A faint smile.
"…you should consider not pushing yourself like you're invincible."
From the other side of the room, Varis stretched. His neck cracked. His shoulders too. Like nothing had happened.
"…ahhh…"
He exhaled.
"…now that was a good nap."
Max looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
