Chapter 5 - FIRST CONFRONTATION

It wasn't the first time witnessing someone die in front of him but it was still irksome. Disturbing to say the least. The kind of stuff that would leave you with nightmares in your sleep, making even daydreaming a venture not for the faint hearted. Whether it be illusion or reality, it was nit something he would be willing to experience again. So why...why was it still haunting him again after all this time. He had enjoyed some time in peace, albeit momentarily, but now they had come back like a torrential rain, pouring into him, leaving him no space for relief.

At the moment, someone was dead before him. Not to mention the massacre that had occurred within the school confines. It wouldn't surprise him if everyone else dropped down dead but he had a feeling it was not going to be that easy, they had to suffer. He had to be shown how they breathed their last, not willing to let go of this world while in excruciating pain.

He closed his eyes, trying to get out. This was just like any other experience he had. It wasn't to the point he would call them normal, but he was getting used to it. And that was exactly what made him harbour such resentment towards the one who had started this hell for him. If only he could find out who it was. He knew that he could not do anything significant to them, but it would still offer some consolation knowing the driving cause for his misery.

He stood there and stared at the scene in front of him for quite some time, wondering what he was supposed to do. He always had a feeling that at such times, there was something he had to do, but he did not know what it was, or how to do it at all.

**Elsewhere**

"Are you sure this is him; he doesn't even look like he's enough to get by with for one day."

"I know right, I wonder how bad your luck has to be to be to have a life like his, not like its going to last any longer anyway, he'll be dead before he even knows what happened."

These two had been conversing for quite some time, watching Jessy, waiting for the right moment, when he would be broken by these nightmares that he had been experiencing so that they could have him (Not in the way you're thinking, but the literal have)

As they readied themselves for what was about to come, Jessy was also undergoing a similar change. He had been long aware that there was a purpose for these experiences, but he did not know what it was. They would come and go like the wind, not at his convenience, they appeared random, but there was a subtle pattern that did not rely on physical states. They were targeted at is mental state, emotional to be exact. They came whenever he had a deep longing for his mother, the only person who had been caring enough in this world to look after him.

It couldn't have been more obvious had he one it himself. They say that if you let water strike a stone enough time, it will eventually overcome the structure and break it. He had been through it enough times. Sometimes he initiated the thoughts himself, just to see if it works, all the while hoping for a different experience than the one he had grown accustomed to. That's right, he had begun the confrontation of whatever was messing with him in this world. It might seem impossible, it is in fact logically futile to carry out such actions, considering the power of his opponent, but he had a thought. If he disrupted the other party's plans continuously, it would get really annoying. And while it may not cause direct harm, it would make them so angry that it would lead to slip ups. And slip ups mean openings, which lead to opportunities. If all went as he had planned, he might even get the chance t meet the mastermind behind the dark mass that was manipulating him. Soo in a way, the prey was being hunted, running away while leading the predator to a set trap.

A nice gamble to say the least. But now that he was sure he had nothing to lose, it just meant that he had everything to gain from this experience. 'there's just no way they can keep showing me how people die everyday so that I can just walk out of here alive.' Such thoughts had long lodged themselves into his mind, waiting for the release, for when he would call them to be his aid. He didn't have much physical presence or abilities, but considering the playing field was his own mind, he was confident in his own abilities. Not to mention he had the home advantage.

And so, he begun, what was the point of showing him a select individuals' death when there were so many people before them, why not chose them instead. It meant they had a purpose to serve. They were just tools, machines to ease the work of the perpetrator. While they may have seemed human with their tear-soaked faces and blood stained clothes, they were nothing more than that. He was just that sure. He could never had been more wrong.

He looked all around. Most were his age; he had no emotional attachments to these 'people' or whatever they were. So, considering ending their lives was not that evil to him. 'Besides, they're going to die anyway.' He paused on that though. He could not believe that it had come from his own mind. Had he truly become this. Even if they did not seem human, he should have at least some sense of remorse, but he encouraged himself with such thoughts. He felt lost, a stranger to himself.

It was times like this that he wished he had his last remaining anchor to humanity, the mother who had left him at such a young age, the only person who could remind him that he did not have to go down this path. But she was not there, so he had to find his own way, even if it meant going down the wrong path.

He picked up a shattered pipe that had been lying on the floor for a long time and made up his mind. 'Its all or nothing.'
