Chapter 39 - Nous — Why Is It You Again?!

[Ascension Power · Truth]

[Description: An ascended evolution of the Authority of Reason. This is the foundational ascension power for Herrscher-level abilities, possessing unknowable properties. It can further upgrade and evolve the Authority of Reason.]

[Specific effects will be experienced after absorption.]

Ascension power.

This was the upgrade every Herrscher—and every Fusion Warrior—dreamed of.

And this golden chest had dropped a power that perfectly matched the Authority of Reason: Truth.

To put it simply—

The Authority of Reason can only create things based on knowledge humanity already understands.

But the Authority of Truth?

As long as something is objectively possible, even if it's an unsolved mystery now or in the future—

Truth can directly create it.

Because the Authority of Reason works under the Herrscher of the End, like a project manager reporting upward—

While Truth has the Imaginary Tree itself backing it.

Straight from the real boss.

In simple terms:

The Authority of Truth is similar to a perfect conceptualizer—

a direct manifestation of narrative logic within a closed system.

It pairs with information proliferation to fill the gaps inside that system,

together forming a wilderness of knowledge composed of narrative and information.

And in theory—

As long as three conditions are met:

It exists within the Imaginary domain

The theory can stand

There is sufficient energy

Then it is functionally equivalent to "If I think it works, it works."

Infinitely close to that kind of power.

Before this—

When Evan used the Authority of Reason, he had to:

Study obsessively

Write detailed academic papers

Turn those papers into blueprints

The papers were the blueprints.

But now?

With Truth—

He didn't need to study.

He just needed to write science fiction based on existing civilizations.

The story itself became the blueprint.

The only constraint was range.

If something lay outside the reach of the Imaginary Tree—

then even Truth couldn't construct it.

But if the Authority of Reason knew it existed?

Then it was possible.

This power was honestly… disgusting.

Absolutely broken.

The only regret was that this was merely ascension-level Truth, not its complete form.

It couldn't be sustained for long.

"I wonder," Evan muttered,

"if a fully realized Truth, backed directly by the Imaginary Tree…"

"…could it construct—"

A Aeon?

The thought flashed through his mind.

Back when he was still a player, he hadn't analyzed later plotlines deeply.

After finishing graduation travel and Seele's 1.5 arc, he'd jumped straight to Star Rail.

So his understanding of Truth wasn't complete.

After a moment's thought, Evan decided—

No point speculating.

He would absorb the ascension power first.

Fusion

Without hesitation, Evan pulled the ascension power into himself.

"Ascension power is basically a data patch for my authority."

The ascended Truth fully merged into his body—and entered his sea of consciousness.

In that instant, Evan felt change.

First—his limbs.

Massive imaginary energy surged through his arms and legs, rewriting them.

Blood vessels.

Bones.

Skin.

Cells.

All of them underwent drastic, unobservable transformation.

Before, his body had just been a battery connector—

using authority only through external power.

Now?

His body itself had become the weapon.

Like a charged rifle using the battery directly.

His genes were rewritten.

He was still human—

but now a human fully reconstructed by imaginary energy.

Then came his brain.

It began to expand violently.

In that moment, Evan observed the birth of the universe within his mind.

He witnessed:

The fall of the Immortal Aeon

The battle between the Preservation Aeon and the Ancient Beasts

The origin of Paths

The ascension of the Hunt Aeon

The ascension of Nous

The structure of the world unfolded before him.

All data.

All logic.

All connections.

Only when his brain finally reached exhaustion did the calculations stop.

The Authority of Truth was second only to "If I think it works, it works."

Though the ascension state was fleeting,

it was more than enough to handle most matters across the cosmos.

For example—

"Flaming Lance data acquired."

"Deconstruction complete."

"Reconstructing."

A voice echoed in his mind.

Moments later, a weapon identical to Stelle's lance appeared in Evan's hand.

Then it shifted—

becoming Seele's scythe.

The sheer flexibility of this power thrilled him.

Unfortunately, Truth still required logical consistency within the narrative.

Otherwise—

He really could just create gods.

"Damn, what a beautiful scene," Evan chuckled darkly.

"What if I created a hundred Nous?"

"Would Nanook cry when he saw that?"

He was grinning—

When suddenly—

A familiar sensation surged up from his feet.

Space twisted.

Consciousness detached.

Reality expanded infinitely.

An Aeon.

Again.

"…Are you kidding me?"

"Brother—"

"Which Aeon is it this time?!"

"Why is it happening again?!"
