New Avengers Compound. Conference room.
"An ultimatum?"
Jake flipped through the Sokovia Accords with the casual pace of someone browsing a restaurant menu they'd already decided to reject. The rustling pages were the only sound in a room where the air had solidified.
General Ross tapped the table. "One hundred seventeen countries signed this document. Refuse, and you are classified as an illegal armed force." His eyes found the Omnitrix. "Especially you, Rivers. Or should I say — Omni."
"The clause targeting you is on page seventy-two. Given your possession of uncontrollable, high-risk alien technology, the Security Council demands the device be surrendered for sealing and supervision. Until you prove you're safe, you will be restricted to—"
Snap.
Jake closed the Accords and tossed them onto the table.
"If I recall correctly, that 'Security Council' is the same group that tried to drop a nuclear warhead on Manhattan."
"That was a necessary sacrifice!" Ross's face darkened.
"Necessary sacrifice." Jake's voice went flat. Dangerous. "I was the one who closed that portal. I was the one who turned a falling city into sand over Sokovia. And now a room full of politicians wants to confiscate the weapon that saved the world?"
"Watch your tone!" Ross slammed the table. "Do you still think you're heroes? The public is terrified! Without oversight, what separates you from the villains?"
"The difference," Steve Rogers said, breaking his silence with a voice that carried the weight of a man who'd watched governments make bad decisions since 1943, "is that we won't point our weapons at innocent people. But politicians will."
He turned from the window.
"This agreement isn't oversight. It's a leash. Once we sign, where we go, who we save — all of it is dictated by committee. What happens when they prevent us from saving people? What happens when they order us to start a war?"
"That's where I stand too," Sam said, moving to Steve's side.
"Same." Wanda glanced at Jake and quietly crossed the room to join him.
The lines were drawn.
One side of the table: Jake, Steve, Sam, Wanda, and Gwen — mask off, blonde hair visible, jaw set.
The other side: Ross, flanked by silence.
And in the middle — Tony Stark finally raised his head.
"Jake. Steve." His voice was raw. Cracked. "Did you see the kid who died in Sokovia? Charlie Spencer. College student. Wanted to build houses. Crushed by our collateral damage."
Tony's eyes were red.
"We need accountability. We need oversight. Otherwise we're just... monsters nobody asked for."
"Tony." Jake looked at his friend and sighed. "Guilt is good. It keeps you human. But if you let guilt become a chain, you lose your judgment."
He pointed at Ross. "Do you honestly believe this man is acting out of justice? He wants military control. Leverage. And my watch."
Ross's facade cracked. "ENOUGH! Refuse to sign, and you are criminals! I will freeze assets, blackout media, and deploy special forces for mandatory—"
"Mandatory enforcement?"
Jake smiled. The temperature dropped.
He stood. Raised his left hand to the Omnitrix dial.
"Ross. Have you forgotten who I am?"
"I know you're powerful." Ross's hand found his signal transmitter. "But I have two squadrons outside. Sonic weapons. And Vision is on our side... right?"
Vision floated motionless. A long pause.
"If you do not sign," Vision said carefully, "escalating conflict will statistically produce greater casualties. Supervision reduces harm."
"See!" Ross surged with confidence. "Now — surrender the watch, or—"
BUZZ!
Pink-white light flooded the room. Jake hadn't transformed — he'd activated the Omnitrix's Chromastone energy projection. A precision beam struck the Accords on the table.
BOOM!
Five hundred pages vaporized. Ash drifted onto Ross's face.
"This is my answer."
Jake's voice was quiet. "You can call your special forces. But before they fire a single round, I can brick the Pentagon's servers and broadcast every piece of dirt you've buried — corruption, bribery, illegal experiments — to every phone on the planet."
Every screen in the room flickered. A green electronic face — the Upgrade symbol — grinned from every monitor.
"This is a warning, Ross. Get out."
Ross cycled through red, white, and green. He looked at Jake. At Tony and Vision — who wouldn't let him harm anyone here regardless of political alignment.
"Fine. Fine." He straightened his ash-covered suit. "From this moment — you are fugitives."
The door slammed.
Silence. But the fracture was irreparable.
"Did you have to be so absolute?" Tony stared at the ash. "We could have negotiated."
"There's no negotiating with the devil, Tony."
Jake headed for the door. Gwen, Steve, Sam, and Wanda followed.
At the threshold, Jake stopped. Didn't turn around.
"Be careful, Tony. Your guilt makes you vulnerable. And in this world, there are people in the shadows who specialize in exploiting exactly that — dismantling strong fortresses from the inside."
"What does that mean?"
"Don't get sold out and still count the money for the seller."
Jake walked out.
The Avengers were broken.
Across the street. An unremarkable apartment.
A man in glasses lowered a listening device. Through the window, he watched the heroes split — one group heading east, the other remaining.
Helmut Zemo.
A cold, precise smile.
"Half done."
He looked at the calendar. One date circled in red.
The Vienna UN Special Session.
"Time to light the match."
Deep in the Omnitrix's system, a notification pulsed:
[Worldline variation detected: 15% divergence from baseline.]
[Host successfully resisted governmental pressure on enhanced individuals.]
[Reward unlocked: Omnitrix Ultimate Evolution Function (Ultimatrix) — Experience Card x1.]
[Duration: 10 minutes.]
[Emotion resonance points earned: 600,000.]

The Ultimate Evolution card joined the Master Control Mode trial in Jake's inventory.
Two game-changers.
Still unplayed.
Still waiting.
