Leipzig-Halle Airport. Sector C apron.

The sky was the color of iron. The air felt like it had solidified.

Steve Rogers eyed the lone helicopter on the tarmac, and every tactical instinct he had screamed trap. "It's too easy. That chopper is bait."

ZZZT—!

An electromagnetic pulse killed the helicopter's circuits before anyone touched the controls.

"Unauthorized entry, vehicle theft, and let's add assaulting an officer for good measure."

Tony Stark descended — portable armor, no helmet, eyes carrying the complicated exhaustion of a man who was doing something he hated because he believed he had to. War Machine dropped in behind him, fully armed.

"Steve." Tony's voice was strained. "Hand over Barnes. I have thirty-six hours before Ross sends kill squads instead of me. I'm trying to help."

"You're not listening, Tony."

"Then we're done talking." Tony sighed. "Underoos! Stop hiding!"

Whoosh!

A web-line snatched Steve's shield clean out of his grip, then looped around his wrists. Peter Parker flipped through the air and stuck a landing, striking a pose that was ninety percent enthusiasm and ten percent combat readiness.

"Hi everyone! I'm the new guy! Did I — was that too fast?"

Black Panther materialized from behind a fuel truck. Natasha from behind a boarding stairs. Vision phased down through a cargo container. Every exit covered.

Team Iron Man: assembled.

"The kid with the shield."

Jake stepped from the shadows — Gwen and Wanda flanking him, hands in his pockets, expression casual.

"Didn't Stark teach you? Taking things from the elderly is bad manners."

"Omni!" Peter stumbled back. "Mr. Stark said you have a big red hand that can crush my head!"

"Less talking, more fighting!" Tony's faceplate snapped shut. Repulsors charged.

"You want a fight?" Jake's hand found the dial. "Then I'll use one of your own kind to teach you the rules."

Blue light.

Jake's body shrank — compact, agile, covered in blue fur, four arms, a prehensile tail, and the hyperactive energy of something that had evolved in zero-gravity jungle canopies.

Spidermonkey. Arachnichimp.

"SCREEEECH!"

The blue monkey launched at Peter on all fours — a bolt of furry lightning that moved with the chaotic, unpredictable rhythm of a primate that treated physics as a suggestion.

"A monkey?!" Peter fired a web on instinct.

Spidermonkey's tail whipped around and discharged a stream of blue, high-viscosity mucus that severed Peter's web-line mid-flight. Before Peter could process that, Spidermonkey was on a container above him, using four arms to execute a mid-air directional change that no human skeleton could replicate.

"Left? No — right? No —" Peter's Spider-Sense was screaming from every direction. The monkey wasn't faster than him. It was weirder. The movement patterns were alien — four arms creating leverage points and momentum shifts that Peter's Earth-trained instincts couldn't predict.

SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!

Three of Spidermonkey's hands grabbed Peter's wrists and ankle simultaneously. The fourth gave his forehead a hard flick.

"Good strength, kid! Technique? Terrible!"

Using leverage, four-armed grappling, and Peter's own momentum against him, Spidermonkey spun Spider-Man like a windmill and launched him across the tarmac.

BANG! Peter crashed into a boarding stairs vehicle.

"Ow, ow, ow..." Peter rubbed his back. "This isn't scientific! How does a monkey know jiu-jitsu?"

The battlefield erupted.

Team Cap had numbers. Team Iron Man had firepower. The math wasn't kind.

"Suppressive fire!" War Machine's shoulder cannons opened up, pinning Sam and Hawkeye behind a luggage cart with sustained bursts.

"I'll—" Wanda started forward.

ZING!

A golden Mind Stone beam sliced the ground at her feet. Vision hovered above, density-shifting through Hawkeye's explosive arrows like they were suggestions, phasing directly through cover to seize Falcon's wing assembly.

"Surrender, Sam. You cannot win."

"Says you!"

Gwen swung in on a web-line and drop-kicked Black Panther away from Bucky's throat, then blinded T'Challa with a web to the face.

"Another spider?!" T'Challa shredded the webbing with vibranium claws and engaged Gwen in a running fight across the tarmac.

Chaos. Absolute chaos.

Tony spotted his opening — Steve, shieldless, directing traffic, exposed.

"Sorry, Capsicle."

BOOM! BOOM!

Iron Man and War Machine fired simultaneously — two concentrated pulse blasts converging on Steve's position. Unshielded, Captain America was seconds from being hit by enough combined energy to melt a tank.

"STEVE!" Bucky screamed.

Green flash.

Spidermonkey vanished. In his place — a tall, one-eyed alien composed entirely of purple crystal, arms spread wide, stepping directly into the path of both beams.

Chromastone.

"This level of energy? Not even a tingle."

Both pulse blasts hit the crystal body simultaneously. And vanished. Absorbed completely — like water into a sponge, like light into a prism. Not deflected. Not dispersed. Consumed.

Chromastone's body blazed with purple-gold light, energy levels spiking far beyond what had been fired at him.

"Right back at you!"

BOOOOM!!!

A multicolored energy torrent erupted from Chromastone's chest — double the combined power of both beams, braided with absorbed repulsor energy and the Omnitrix's bio-electric amplification.

"GET BACK!" Tony seized Rhodes and dove sideways.

The beam grazed Tony's armor — close enough to scorch the paint — and continued past, annihilating the airport control tower behind them in a shower of glass and concrete.

Silence.

Team Iron Man's offensive collapsed. Vision was forced back by the energy shockwave. War Machine's targeting systems were scrambled. Tony's HUD was flashing recovery alerts.

Jake patted the crystals on his chest and looked toward the back of the formation.

"SCOTT! Stop spectating! Give them your specialty!"

"Specialty? You mean that?" Scott Lang swallowed hard. His thumb found the regulator. "Okay. I hope my pants hold up."

The ground trembled.

A shadow fell across the tarmac — vast, building-sized, darkening the entire sector.

"Oh my god..." Peter's jaw dropped. His web-shooters dangled forgotten at his sides.

A giant foot — red and silver, the size of a bus — stepped into the center of the battlefield. Then a leg. Then a torso that rose above the terminal buildings like a human skyscraper. At full height, Giant-Man towered over sixty feet, holding Colonel Rhodes's leg between two fingers like a man holding a action figure.

"HAHAHA! Who's the little guy NOW?"

Scott's voice was deep, booming, and carrying the particular delight of a man who'd been waiting his entire career for permission to do this.

Tony Stark looked up at the giant looming over the airport and, for the first time in the battle, experienced genuine existential doubt.

[Airport battle — climax achieved!]

[Spidermonkey successfully outmaneuvered Spider-Man in close combat.]

[Chromastone absorbed lethal combined attack and returned fire at 2x power.]

[Emotion resonance: 850,000 points.]

[Giant-Man has drawn all aggro.]
