New York. Outside the Sanctum.
Ebony Maw lay on the pavement, foaming at the mouth. Cull Obsidian was embedded in the curb like a geological specimen. Two of the Black Order — feared across galaxies — reduced to garbage in under three minutes.
"Is... is that it?" Peter dropped from a lamppost, mask-eyes blinking. "I thought an alien invasion would last at least three days. Maybe knock down the Statue of Liberty."
"That's the movie version, Pajama Boy."
Tony opened his faceplate. His words were sharp, but his gaze had already drifted — involuntarily, inevitably — to the man with the round shield on the other side of the formation.
Steve looked back.
The air went quiet. Awkward. Heavy with everything that had happened in Siberia and everything that hadn't been said since.
"Uh..." Scott shrank to normal size and hunched his shoulders. "Should I go small and give you two some privacy?"
Jake walked between them. Left hand on Tony's titanium shoulder. Right hand on Steve's vibranium suit.
"Alright, you two fossils. If you're planning to kill each other with eye contact, save it for after we deal with the Purple Sweet Potato Spirit."
He pointed at the donut ship still hovering above Manhattan.
"Enemy is still up there. And you're both Plumbers consultants now. Internal discord gets docked from your pay."
Steve took a breath. Extended his hand first. "Tony."
Tony looked at it. Two seconds. Then clasped it, and the tension that had been building since a shield hit the floor in Siberia finally — finally — broke.
"Still got a strong grip, Old Popsicle. Plumbers food must be good."
"Welcome back, Captain."
Jake nodded. This was the result he'd been engineering since the Moon base was built — not just a victory, but a reunion.
"Gwen — recycle the trash. Maximum security at the Moon base. Don't let them wake up."
"Copy. Portal opening."
Blue flash. Maw and Cull Obsidian vanished.
"As for the donut ship — the Plumbers need a transport vessel. I'll have Upgrade refit it—"
"Jake." Strange spoke sharply. The Eye of Agamotto pulsed with uneasy green light. "Don't be careless. I sense something far worse approaching."
"I know."
The smile left Jake's face. The Omnitrix was shrieking — not an alarm he'd ever heard, but something more primal. A tremor at frequencies that meant extinction-class.
RRRRUMBLE—!!
Sanctuary II didn't descend. Instead, a beam of blue light — so brilliant it burned afterimages into retinas — lanced from orbit and struck Central Park.
The spatial energy shattered every window within five kilometers.
"THERE!"
Combat mode. Every hero. Instantly.
The beam dissipated. Space warped — reality folding like burnt paper — and from the distortion, a figure emerged.
No army. No fleet. No escort.
Alone.
Golden armor caught the sunlight. On his left hand, the Infinity Gauntlet held two Stones — the purple Power Stone and the blue Space Stone — both pulsing with the quiet confidence of weapons that had never been matched.
Thanos.
He didn't look at the heroes surrounding him. His gaze found the pendant on Strange's chest.
"Two." His voice was conversational. Calm. The tone of a man checking items off a grocery list. "Four more to go."
"HEY! Purple Sweet Potato Spirit!"
Tony fired first. Nano-thrusters at full burn, palm repulsor unleashing a concentrated pulse beam.
"This is EARTH! Illegal entry is PROHIBITED!"
Thanos didn't look up. He raised the Gauntlet.
Buzz—
Purple light. Tony's beam disintegrated into fireworks.
"Stark." Thanos looked at Tony. Something in his expression that might — horrifyingly — have been respect. "You are not the only one cursed with knowledge."
"You know me?"
"I know many dead men."
"EVERYONE — ATTACK!"
Steve charged. Shield first. Behind him — Falcon in the air providing suppressive fire, Bucky's machine gun blazing, Giant-Man rising to stomp, Wanda's Chaos Magic building, Peter's webs arcing for Thanos's limbs.
The most powerful team Earth had ever assembled. Converging on a single target.
It wasn't enough.
Thanos clenched the Gauntlet.
Power Stone.
BOOM!!
A purple shockwave erupted from his body. Steve — vibranium shield, Plumbers exoskeleton, super-soldier serum — was launched backward, spitting blood. The shield held. The man behind it didn't.
Space Stone.
Blue flash. Giant-Man — twenty meters tall, mid-stomp — was seized by spatial energy, frozen in the air, then hurled like garbage into the Hudson River. Several kilometers. One splash.
Bullets from Falcon and Bucky hit Thanos and didn't spark.
"Enough."
Two Stones blazed simultaneously. A clearing attack, building to detonation.
"For balance—"
"OMNITRIX — BIOMNITRIX FUNCTION — ACTIVATE!"
A voice cut through the chaos — mechanical, resonant, carrying the particular certainty of someone who'd been saving this for exactly the right moment.
Green light erupted.
Jake vanished.
What appeared was something no one — not Thanos, not the Avengers, not even the Omnitrix's own database — had ever seen before.
A body built on Four Arms' Tetramand frame — massive, four-armed, muscled like red granite. But the skin was burning. Flowing magma. Pyronite flame engulfing every surface. Four thick arms blazed with the eternal fire of a star's corona. The head was a torch — a pillar of flame shaped into something that vaguely resembled a face.
Heat Arms. Tetramand + Pyronite fusion.
"Taste this — FLAMING HEAVY PUNCH!!"
Four fists — each carrying Four Arms' planet-cracking strength AND Heatblast's stellar-core temperatures — descended on Thanos like a meteor shower.
"Hmm?"
Thanos crossed his arms. The Power Stone blazed.
BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG!!
The impacts echoed across Manhattan.
The Mad Titan — the being who'd dismissed every attack so far with casual contempt — was driven back. Ten steps. His feet carved twin furrows through the asphalt. His golden arm guards charred.
The flames dissipated.
Thanos lowered his arms. Looked at the burns. Looked at the fusion creature standing before him — four arms trailing embers, body radiating heat that turned the surrounding air to shimmer.
For the first time since arriving on Earth, his expression shifted from indifference to something else.
A smile. Sinister. Genuine.
"Finally... something interesting."
