Chapter 138 - No One Is Special

Vill-V had to admit that the current MOTH had already lost the courage it once possessed to chase the flames. Most had become a rabble, unworthy of the name Dr. Mobius had given them—MOTH. Only a select few could truly shoulder that title.

Very few people, knowing in advance that failure awaited them, would still be willing to act and defy fate.

That was also why Vill-V had chosen to relay so much information verbally to Project Bunny. It was precisely to relieve the pressure buried deep in her heart, pressure she had nowhere else to release.

Vill-V understood that Project Bunny was, after all, an AI. She did not possess true humanity, which meant Vill-V could confide in her without any psychological burden.

But an AI was still an AI. She did not possess genuine humanity, and thus could only serve as a listener and recorder. She could not provide Vill-V with any emotional support.

{Magician tosses the wreckage of the destroyed drones into an enormous top hat.}

Another reason was that humanity might covet Elysia's ability to sever the threads of fate and do something excessive to her. Vill-V could not accept that either.

That included Dr. Mei. Even if Dr. Mei made such a decision for the sake of humanity's survival, Vill-V would still refuse it.

Neither she nor Project Bunny had discussed the possibility of sacrificing Elysia. It was their unspoken understanding.

Because that was Elysia—Elysia, who believed in the beauty of humanity!

How could Vill-V sacrifice that pure and flawless Elysia just to change humanity's own fate? Praise Elysia!

Let me bear it alone. Let me think alone. Let me act alone. That is the price I pay for coming to this world.

Girls all have their little secrets, don't they? Why can't my secret be carrying the weight of the entire world?

I, Vill-V, will become a Wallfacer as well!

{Magician controls the mech and activates musou mode against all of MOTH's drones.}

"Project Bunny, based on historical data analysis, it can be concluded that it is impossible for you, Mr. Vill-V, to have devised no strategy at all. The most probable one remains the Project EMBER you once mentioned. It is also the plan with the highest recorded success rate in 'Honkai history.'"

"Therefore, Mr. Vill-V, do you intend to initiate the Project EMBER, with Project Bunny assuming the role of 'Prometheus'?"

Project Bunny's voice remained flat, as it was mechanically generated.

Even if she were asked to sacrifice herself for a plan destined to fail, she would not experience any psychological imbalance.

Vill-V shook her head. "No, Project Bunny. I told you about those plans so that, in the event something happens to me, you can help find a new successor on my behalf."

This was Id's request. Unlike the transmigrators in other novels, Id Vill-V had never believed herself to be some chosen one. No one was special. Vill-V would never dare place everything on the halo of a transmigrator.

Thus, Project Bunny was one of Vill-V's contingency measures. If anything were to happen to her, Project Bunny would pass on the intelligence she had gained through transmigration to the next successor, who would then continue the unfinished mission of the Flame-Chasers in her stead.

Of course, there was also a trace of Id's private sentiment in this. After listening to Vill-V's worries for so long, Project Bunny had already come to occupy a small place in her heart.

After a brief hesitation, Project Bunny said, "Mr. Vill-V... Project Bunny understands. No matter what happens, Project Bunny will carry out your instructions."

After another short pause, perhaps having observed the MOTH soldiers before Vill-V giving their all to protect humanity, she raised her volume slightly and added, "Humanity will surely defeat Honkai!"

Why are you shouting so loudly?

But at this moment, Conductor had no leisure to complain about Project Bunny's words, because she too saw the MOTH soldiers.

More precisely, the gigantic top hat controlled by Magician split apart, and from within emerged a missile-laden Gundam that had already begun fighting the arriving MOTH troops.

War ignited once more. The Honkai battlefield, which had only just settled into uneasy calm, erupted again in smoke and flames. The shouts of the MOTH soldiers pierced the sky.

The Gundam's beam saber flared brilliantly, illuminating the fear and despair on the battlefield. Accompanying that fear and despair was the "Hope's Flower" background music blasting from the Gundam's speakers.

With a single slash of the beam saber, the soldiers struck by the laser blade struck dramatic "don't stop" poses before collapsing unconscious.

"Damn it, Magician! Wasn't playing a Herrscher enough? Now you're going to act as the hidden boss too?!"

"Hahaha! It's too early to be amazed, Conductor! I am the creator of every great escape trick! This little surprise is merely an appetizer."

"The warm-up is over. The true escape magic carnival begins now!"

While replying to Conductor in an excited voice, Magician pressed the red button and began launching countless missiles from the Gundam toward the incoming MOTH soldiers and fighter jets...

"Let the Flower of Hope bloom! Sweet dreams to you all!"

...

One day later, Conductor stood before the North American base of the Mad Hatter Party, lowering her head with a helpless sigh.

In terms of results, Vill-V had indeed escaped MOTH's encirclement in full view of everyone, and with remarkable ease at that. She had not even expended much stamina.

Among the missiles fired at the MOTH fighter jets, one had been Vill-V's escape pod. MOTH had no time to notice it, as they were already overwhelmed by the sudden appearance of the super mech.

Those struck by the missiles were not injured—they were merely rendered unconscious. Even so, it created considerable trouble for MOTH's aftermath operations.

Fortunately, the remaining Honkai Beasts and zombies on the battlefield had also been completely annihilated by that Gundam. The soldiers, whose nerves had been stretched taut for an entire day, slept exceptionally soundly.

Conductor now regretted letting Magician take control. That magic performance of hers had not only caused trouble for MOTH, but had also consumed soulium materials worth one hundred million that Expert had painstakingly stockpiled.

The money was not the biggest issue. The real problem was those soulium materials themselves.

They were portable Helixcraft units that Expert had spent an enormous amount of time and effort creating. They had been preloaded with various equipment programs and could transform at any time into whatever devices Expert required.

Those devices could improve the workshop's efficiency and allow Expert to manufacture tools anywhere.

And now, all of them had been squandered by Magician. She had no idea what expression Expert would wear upon waking and learning about this.

"Sigh—" Conductor let out a weary breath. As Vill-V's so-called "housekeeper," she was beginning to consider giving up on managing the other personalities altogether.

They were all a bunch of reckless brats bent on shortening her lifespan.

"Id... you truly entrusted me with an arduous task."
