Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Full Release — “Sheep-Beast Lord’s Protection”

The radiance of Originium Arts flooded the entire Cradle of Generations.

Upon Eyjafjalla, the Sheep-Beast Lord's protection unfurled in full—its authority and pressure so overwhelming that it felt even more terrifying than the unknown Angel before her.

Like a volcano on the verge of eruption.

Though it had no true consciousness, the Angel seemed to sense danger. Its body condensed in a single motion, snapping into a flawless triangular form, sealing its core deep within—pure defense, nothing else.

But in front of Eyjafjalla, it meant nothing.

She raised her staff high, smiling softly. Calm enough that she didn't look like she was facing an enemy at all—more like she was offering a greeting.

Only… it was a greeting no ordinary being could ever survive.

Heavenfire fell.

Countless blazing fireballs—hot enough to melt steel—formed a vast net across the sky. Within the Cradle, now turned into an arena, only Eyjafjalla could move freely.

Chen Qianyu, Perlica, and the Administrator huddled in one corner, shielding Bai Ling—whose body temperature had begun to spike into something abnormal.

The Angel realized in an instant that even pure defense would inevitably lead to damage. It flung itself open, exposing the pure-white core within. A flash of blood-red light—

A silent roar detonated outward, aimed straight at Eyjafjalla standing at the center of the descending fire.

At that very moment, a pure white lamb appeared—quietly sprinting out—and with effortless ease, it plucked the roar from existence.

And the heavens crashed down.

Originium light flickered wildly across the Angel's body, each pulse straining to hold back the crushing pressure of the inferno. But it had already missed its best chance to defend. Eyjafjalla lifted her pale, branch-like staff, and the brilliance of Originium Arts flared to an extreme.

A volcano of apocalyptic fire burst forth—meant to scour everything within the Cradle clean.

At last, in a single instant, the shield of Originium light shattered on the Angel's surface. With its self-protection gone, the falling flames struck its body directly.

A reconstructed mass of a large Angel's remains had never been stable to begin with. And its awakening wasn't complete—just a hurried assembly, forced into the rough shape of a monster.

Now the three "limbs" of Angelic wreckage that once formed a perfect tri-pillar silhouette were scorched black. Parts of them continued to break away; the once-flawless structure warped into uneven lengths, and its presence diminished sharply.

"Hmph."

A cold snort rang out.

No one appeared—but before their eyes, the unknown Angel suddenly dropped. Or perhaps it didn't drop so much as drive part of its body straight into the ground.

In the next moment, the Originium glow circling the Cradle began to waver.

Thump—thump—THUMP—

The earth roared. Bai Ling watched in horror as waves of Originium energy surged up from the ground and poured into the Angel's body again and again.

Under normal circumstances—even without consciousness—an Angel would never allow something like this.

Even at full strength and uninjured, it couldn't possibly contain such a torrent.

And now, just as Bai Ling expected—

Its body, already ravaged by heavenfire, was forced to accept that impossible influx. Before Eyjafjalla could even take her next step, the Angel began to naturally disintegrate under energy overload.

Charred, shattered chunks dropped one after another. The core's light grew so intense it could blind anyone who stared. The energy fluctuations climbed to the absolute limit.

In Bai Ling's eyes, it was like forcing a bottle meant to hold ten units of water to hold nearly a hundred.

"…No—Nephthys is going to detonate it! The entire Cradle will be annihilated!"

Perlica tightened her grip on her staff. Chen Qianyu and the Administrator tensed as well, bracing for impact.

But reality swerved past all expectation.

As the Angel reached the brink, every trace of energy fluctuation vanished. The core's blinding light winked out. The world plunged into darkness.

Everything seemed to settle.

Yet Bai Ling had already sensed something wrong. He looked up—straight into the sky.

The Angel that had just collapsed now floated there in silence. Not a shred of Originium energy leaked from it, and its appearance no longer resembled the earlier broken reconstruction.

Three flawless columns, pristine and complete, were linked by the radiant Angel core at their center. They rotated slowly—unhurried, deliberate. The core swayed faintly, like an eye examining the world.

It made no move.

Like a judge, contemplating how to deliver its verdict.

On the ground, Eyjafjalla faced it without expression.

Then, suddenly, she turned her head and called to Bai Ling in a soft voice.

"Senpai."

"I'm here."

"If I go back… will I have a chance to come here again?"

Bai Ling answered without the slightest hesitation, his voice absolute.

"Yes."

Even if there was no way, he would carve one out.

"Then I'm relieved," Eyjafjalla said, smiling faintly. "I'd feel a little sad… if I couldn't even say goodbye to Eyldera."

She stepped forward—steady, natural, composed.

As though she wasn't walking toward an enemy at all, but toward a podium.

Eyjafjalla's Oripathy was severe—nearly beyond salvation. And the more severe the Oripathy, the more it amplified Originium Arts.

She gently swung her staff. Along her arm, shards of Originium slowly surfaced.

And then—

A scene more shocking, more unforgettable than anything before burst into being.

In the blink of an eye, the entire world changed. Everyone felt as though they'd been taken somewhere else—along with the giant Angel turning in the sky.

It wasn't "as though."

They had truly arrived in another world.

A snow-covered caldera, its heat searing. Molten lava churned within the volcano's throat, and far away, at the foot of the mountain, lights from houses flickered like fireflies.

Eyjafjalla exhaled a breath of white mist. Holding her staff horizontally with both hands, she smiled.

In a voice only Bai Ling could hear, she whispered:

"See you later, Senpai."

And in Bai Ling's vision, a message appeared:

[Sheep-Beast Lord's Protection · Full Release]

[Barrier Noble Phantasm]

[This is Eyjafjalla's inner realm, born from the Beast Lord's complete power and the girl's wish.]

["Beloved lamb of the Beast Lord—unyielding and gentle, self-giving and kind—your journey shall be filled with fortune. What you hope for should, by rights, come to pass."]

The Angel seemed unable to comprehend what had happened. It simply circled in silence beneath the turning sky.

Snow and wind drifted softly across the world.

Everything fell quiet.

And then—

The volcano erupted.
