Ruz's POV
DOOM. DOOM. DOOM.
The sound slammed through my dreams like a war drum.
"Get up, Ruz! It's already 7 a.m. We'll be late."
"Mm… five more minutes, Kuya…" I mumbled, my voice heavy and tangled with sleep, my face still buried deep in the pillow.
"If we're late because of you," Kuya said, his tone dropping into something cold… something dangerous, "I'll bury you alive." A pause. Then, sharper "Now. Get. Up."
I shot upright so fast I nearly gave myself whiplash. "I'm up! I'm up!"
If there's one person in this world I'm actually, genuinely afraid of it's my big brother.
Mark Azmain Cruz.
A real life devil walking in human skin. Handsome enough to make people stare twice… but deadly enough to make them regret it.
And if I make him late today?
Yeah. I'm pretty sure that wasn't an empty threat.
Ugh… I hate you…
Groaning under my breath, I stumbled out of bed, grabbed the first set of clothes I could find, and rushed into the bathroom. The next few minutes passed in a blur of pure panic, water, soap, toothbrush, rinse done. No time to think. No time to breathe. A few minutes later, I bolted downstairs, nearly slipping on the last step. Snatching a piece of bread from the table, I sprinted outside, still chewing as I ran.
Kuya was already waiting in the driveway.
He stood beside the car, perfectly composed, like he hadn't just threatened murder five minutes ago.
"Sorry, sorry Kuya! I'm late!"
"Yes," he replied calmly, his gaze sliding toward me. His eyes narrowed slightly. "You are..
…That tone...
"And congratulations," he added with unsettling calm, "the meeting location has been changed."
I froze mid step.
"It's farther than before."
…Wow.
I'm dead.
First, I overslept. Then I woke up late. And now this? Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
I slowly narrowed my eyes, a thought forming in my head. This is definitely Roy's doing..That idiot business partner.
One day just one day..... I'm going to deep him in garlic paste… and roast him.
I've never trusted that man.Not even a little. But....for some reason,
Kuya does.
…and that's what scares me the most.
