Chapter 8 - Measured Force

The monster stood there.

Staring at Void.

Void stood across from it.

Almost bored.

Eyes locked dead-center on the creature.

The soldiers didn't move.

The air felt stretched thin.

Then—

Void:

"Alright, alright, alright… are we gonna stand here forever?"

He adjusted his sleeve casually.

Void:

"Let's wrap this up. I've got a date soon."

The monster twitched.

Scene Shift — Government Observation Room

Multiple screens showed the battlefield.

Advisor Merek Solan paced behind the main console.

Merek:

"Sir, how can you send Void out there alone? He's the only hybrid that actually follows orders."

No response.

At the front of the room stood Director Halden Krowe, hands behind his back, watching the screen.

Merek:

"We don't even know what rank that monster is. Do you really think this is wise?"

Still silence.

Merek:

"With all due respect, I strongly advise recalling him or ordering a retreat. He's one of our best assets. Sir, are you listening?"

Slowly, Halden turned his head.

Cold eyes.

Measured.

Director Krowe:

"Void is not just some hybrid."

Silence fell instantly.

Director Krowe:

"He's a trusted hybrid."

He reached down, grabbed a black file, and tossed it across the desk.

It slid in front of Merek.

Stamped across the front:

SUBJECT V — CLEARANCE OMEGA

Director Krowe:

"If you want to understand my confidence… read."

Merek hesitated.

Then opened it.

His expression changed.

Scene Shift — Edge of the Forest

Bat and Nick stepped into the fading sunlight.

Nick exhaled.

Nick:

"Whoa… you were right. It's clear out here."

Bat didn't answer.

Nick:

"What's wrong?"

Bat kept staring toward the battlefield.

Bat:

"We couldn't do anything."

Nick:

"What were we supposed to do? That thing was massive."

Bat's jaw tightened.

Bat:

"Yeah."

But he didn't sound convinced.

Scene Shift — Battlefield

The monster moved.

Exploded forward with terrifying speed.

General Kael Draven (Field Commander):

"Void! Watch out!"

Void didn't even look at him.

Void:

"Shut up."

Impact.

Smoke erupted.

Debris flew.

Soldiers shielded their faces.

When the dust cleared—

Void was standing there.

Holding the monster's severed arm.

Clean cut.

Dripping.

He looked at it casually.

Void:

"Yeah… didn't want this weighing you down."

He tossed it aside.

The monster roared.

More enraged now.

It attacked wildly.

Slashes tore through trees.

Chunks of earth exploded.

Void weaved through everything effortlessly.

Mocking.

Calm.

Void:

"Your posture's terrible."

Slash missed.

Void:

"Too wide."

Another swing missed.

Void:

"Relax your shoulder."

The monster grew more violent.

More desperate.

Every tree around them was shredded.

Void's smile slowly faded.

Back to boredom.

Void:

okay." I'm bored

He adjusted his sleeve again.

Void:

"I think it's about time for my date."

He vanished.

One flash.

Silence.

The monster's body stood for a second.

Then its head slid off.

The body collapsed moments later, flailing as if it hadn't realized yet.

Void reappeared in front of General Draven, placing the severed head neatly at his boots.

It rolled once.

Stopped.

Void:

"Alright, General. We done?"

General Draven stared at him.

Speechless.

General Draven:

"What the hell just happened?"

Void tilted his head slightly.

Void:

Oh you shocked

He shrugged.

Void:

"Anyway. I've got somewhere to be."

He started walking past the stunned soldiers.

No tension.

No adrenaline.

Just casual footsteps.

Void:

"Send the cleanup team."

And without looking back—

He left.
