Chapter 13 - Season 2Chapter 3 – The Man Behind the Mask

The warehouse felt quieter than before.

We had won.

But it didn't feel like victory.

It felt like the beginning of something bigger.

GhostZero didn't react when he lost.

No frustration.

No excuses.

Just that one word.

"Better."

That bothered me more than trash talk ever could.

The Private Invite

That night, another message came.

Not from the League.

Not public.

Direct message.

"One match. No squads.

You vs Me.

Tomorrow. Custom lobby." – GhostZero

ViperQueen looked at the screen.

"You don't have to accept."

I didn't answer.

Because I already knew.

I would.

The 1v1 Arena

Next night.

Different location inside the warehouse.

One row of PCs.

Only a few observers.

Map: Erangel – Sunset Mode.

No teammates.

No distractions.

Just raw skill.

Custom rules:

No vehicles

Limited healing

Fast circle

First to 5 eliminations wins

GhostZero logged in.

Still hooded.

Still silent.

Match start.

Round 1

He dropped School.

Aggressive.

So I dropped Rozhok.

Opposite energy.

He pushed early.

I waited.

Crack.

Headshot.

1-0 him.

He didn't celebrate.

Round 2

I switched style.

Hot drop.

Close-range SMG fight.

This time I pre-fired his peek.

Knock.

1-1.

He adapted instantly.

No ego.

Just adjustment.

Round 3 & 4

He played patient.

Zone control.

High ground.

Punished my movement.

3-1.

For the first time since Season 1…

I felt behind.

Not in points.

In reading him.

He wasn't emotional.

He wasn't reactive.

He was disciplined.

The Turning Point

Before Round 5 started, he finally spoke.

Through voice chat.

Calm.

"You play with heart.

I play with pattern."

That sentence hit me.

Pattern.

He wasn't just predicting movement.

He was predicting habits.

So I did something risky.

I stopped thinking.

No calculation.

No meta.

No pattern.

I landed randomly in the middle of nowhere.

Looted fast.

Rotated chaotic.

Unstructured.

Unreadable.

When he pushed expecting logic—

I flanked from storm side.

Unexpected.

Spray.

3-2.

Final Round – 4-4

We traded rounds until it was tied.

4-4.

Last fight decides everything.

Circle closing near the small hill outside Yasnaya.

No cover.

No tricks.

Just mechanics and mind.

He moved left.

I moved right.

He faked a step.

I didn't react.

Silence.

Then he rushed.

I crouch-spammed.

Controlled recoil.

Both HP bars dropped.

10 HP.

5 HP.

1 HP.

Again.

But this time…

So did his.

We peeked at the same second.

Spray.

Silence.

My screen flashed first.

Victory.

5-4.

The Reveal

He removed his hood slowly.

Not older.

Not intimidating.

Just focused.

Normal.

Human.

"You finally stopped trying to be perfect," he said.

I stared at him.

"You wanted me to break my pattern."

He nodded.

"I wasn't trying to beat you.

I was forcing you to grow."

ViperQueen stepped forward.

"So what now?"

GhostZero smiled slightly.

"Now the real Underground begins."

Behind him, a larger screen lit up.

New logo.

New tournament bracket.

International Underground Circuit.

Global scale.

Higher stakes.

Stronger teams.

This wasn't a rivalry anymore.

It was preparation.

GhostZero wasn't the villain.

He was a gatekeeper.

And we had just unlocked the next level.
