Chapter 128 - Consequences

Inside Uncle Dave's house, he was watching the TV for probably the first time in his life.

"Breaking news! The drug kingpin and the man who had the entire elephant City under his control is officially dead! The one who killed him is unknown but rumors say that it was the other gangs that did it," The news reporter said, causing Uncle Dave's eyes to slightly narrow.

Meanwhile, inside the truck, Rose managed to stabilize Kael. "Yes! He'll live!" Rose said, who was out of breath from using her ability too much. "I stopped his bleeding and his eyes, ears and everything else have regenerated!"

"Though...it's been a good few minutes since he has stabilized and regenerated," Rose said. "Is...he not going to wake up? No...It's better if he sleeps."

Just as Rose said that, Kael's eyes slightly opened. He looked around in confusion and fell asleep again, unaware of where he was or who was with him in the truck. As soon as Kael's eyes had opened, Rose let out a small gasp due to surprise, her eyes widening just slightly. "H-He opened his eyes! Thank god."

Though, Kael's vision was blurry, making it hard for him to recognize the person looking at him and before he could realize it, the truck's door opened and Rose went pale. It was the Owl. It was none other than the man himself, Draco. "Pardon my intrusion," he said, his stoic expression as stoic as ever.

His eyes landed on Rose and then on Kael. "I am not interested in you anymore," Draco said while looking at Rose. "You can leave. I have business with that human."

Instead of Rose leaving, she instead came in front of Draco, blocking Kael from his deadly gaze. "How brave of you," Draco said, his eyes lingering on Rose far too long. "Now that I look closely, you do have a nice face. Maybe I'll sell you to a slave trader."

"Slave...trader?" Rose said in a low voice slowly, her eyes widening slightly.

"Yes. A slave trader. They have existed since the historical ages and they do in fact, exist now. Especially in Elephant City, the city of crime and drugs," Draco said, unsheathing his sword once he realized that Rose wasn't running away.

"I won't let you sell me off to a slave trader and I definitely won't let you near Kael," Rose said, who was scared but determined at the same time, her fingers slightly trembling.

"Oh? And what can a mere human like you do?" Draco said. "Female species like you are only good for breeding. Males are the one who do all of the work."

"It seems that I have spoke for too long," Draco said, glancing at Kael. "He has already fully waken up."

As soon as Draco said that, he was launched outside and before he could even realize it, Kael appeared behind him and launched him diagonally into a window, shattering it and causing Draco to land in a random room. And as he slowly descended and looked around, he noticed that the both of them were already gone.

"Impressive. He waited until I lowered my guard and attacked me. He even ran instead of fighting," Draco said, his eyes narrowing. "No. I never lower my guard. Hm...I can finally understand why Todd wanted him alive."

Suddenly, Draco's eyes shifted toward an alleyway. "They probably went there...ah, whatever. I'm too lazy to play tag. I'll just tell Todd that they managed to escape. I don't get paid enough anyway."

At the same time, Alex opened his eyes and noticed that he was in a hospital, he knew the smell too well to be mistaken. "Is Tristan dead?" Alex instantly asked, his eyes landing on Zombie, who was standing with an emotionless expression. He was too close to the bed, his somewhat towering figure casted a shadow on the bed.

Any normal person would have been traumatized or screamed but Alex didn't even flinch.

"He's dead. I confirmed it several times," Zombie replied, giving Alex a bit space. "Though...the battle is not over."

"Your battle is not over," Zombie corrected, he didn't want to be involved. "While Tristan may have not been connected to the Red Cross organization, Santiago was. In fact, he was one of the three main leaders."

"I know," Alex replied. "Ronx was the one who killed Dr. Gabriel, one of the three main leaders, and the consequences were immediate."

"Meaning...you will probably be targeted as well," Zombie said, turning around to leave. Though, he glanced over his shoulder one last time. "Be careful," he said before leaving.

However, in the very next second, Lever teleported in front of him. "Don't worry, sir. You have my company!"

"Ah, great," Alex said sarcastically, whose face turned serious in the very next moment. "Don't tell my wife about this."

"I wont," Lever replied.

Meanwhile, Todd sat there, moving his chess pieces, controlling white and black. "Dead. Dead. Dead. Will be dead. Alive," Todd said with a satisfied face, eliminating a piece every time he said "dead."

"Shouldn't it be four dead and one alive?" Lucius asked, glancing at the chessboard and then at Lucius.

"Well...a certain someone was more sturdy than expected," Todd said with a slight smirk. "But it doesn't matter. He'll be dead soon."
