Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: The Way of the Hero

"Long time no see. You've been back in M-City for about half a month now, haven't you?"

Jordan sat down on the sofa, used telekinesis to grab a bag of snacks, and started chatting with King while eating.

"How's your training going?"

"Thank you for asking, Mr. Jordan. After this period of training, I estimate my electricity level has almost crossed the 50,000-volt threshold."

Like a primary school student being pulled aside by the homeroom teacher to check winter break homework on the first day of school, King answered somewhat shyly.

Upon hearing this, Jordan immediately perked up. "Fifty thousand volts? That's excellent progress!"

"Yes." King smiled gently, slightly embarrassed at the praise. "Aside from training, most of my breakthroughs actually occurred during battles."

"I also tested it according to the method you described. Now it's no problem to shatter small rocks with one punch."

King and Jordan exchanged a few pleasantries before King asked, "Jordan, are you free right now? I'm calling to ask some questions about combat."

"Of course." Jordan stuffed a handful of snacks into his mouth. "I'm at Saitama's place right now. Feel free to ask anything you want."

"Great! Then I'll get straight to the point. It's like this..."

Upon hearing King's description of the strange phenomenon, Jordan's expression froze. The corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

"You mean a lot of monsters died as soon as they saw you, before the fight even started?"

"If I understand correctly—you mean they were scared to death by you?"

"Yes... no, I'm not sure how they died either, which is why I wanted to ask you."

"As you know, Mr. Jordan, I used to be just an ordinary person who was good at games. Even after gaining powers, I still involuntarily get nervous when suddenly encountering a monster. My heart races and..."

"Of course, it's not that I'm afraid of fighting. On the contrary, I really hope to have a big battle to test my current strength."

Jordan's ears twitched slightly as he gleaned a key piece of information. "...Okay, I think I understand."

King, feeling a little embarrassed, quickly added, "I've been trying to overcome this recently. Watching horror movies alone at midnight, avoiding well-lit roads when walking at night, playing murder mystery games in my room with the lights off... training like that."

"However, it seems because I've been spending too much time alone lately, I've been encountering a lot of monsters. That's why I've noticed the phenomenon I was just talking about."

That was the gist of it.

Jordan couldn't help but rub his forehead. When he heard "heart racing," he already knew pretty much how those monsters had died.

When King's passive skill met Electric Current Propulsion, the combination revealed only one truth:

The True King Engine!

Those monsters were indeed scared to death.

As for those strange training methods King came up with to overcome nervousness...

All Jordan could say was that he truly deserved to be called the ruthless character from the original work who could get along with Saitama.

Where there's one genius, there's bound to be another. The ancients weren't wrong.

"Ahem, King, I understand your situation. In summary, it should be considered normal."

Jordan tried to organize his thoughts, thinking about how to enlighten King, who'd only recently gained supernatural powers.

"Really? But shouldn't a normal fight involve using electricity or fists to defeat monsters?"

"If the monster dies before the fight starts, then none of the moves from games or manga are useful."

King's argument was well-reasoned and supported by evidence, leaving Jordan speechless.

Only the current King could ask such a question. If someone else saw a fierce-looking monster blocking the road suddenly die, wouldn't they be quick to get out of there?

"That's true, but in reality, everyone's fighting style is different."

Jordan scratched his head in slight distress. Thankfully he wasn't Saitama—his hair was strong enough.

Forget about hair loss. Even my freshly styled hair hasn't changed at all!

"Take S-Class heroes as an example. Like me and Tatsumaki—we both like using telekinesis to finish battles. Because it's clean and hygienic... no, more like it's effortless and convenient."

Having found a suitable angle, Jordan began speaking eloquently, listing on his fingers. "The other S-Class heroes each have unique characteristics in combat. Bang excels in martial arts, Atomic Samurai uses swords, and Flashy Flash's weapon is speed."

"Even among muscular heroes like Super Alloy Darkshine, Tank Top Master, and Puri-Puri Prisoner, their fighting styles are completely different."

"Super Alloy Darkshine's body is his best weapon. In battle, simply charging into the enemy basically eliminates them."

"Tank Top Master prides himself on strength. Even without technique, it's enough to handle most enemies."

"As for Puri-Puri Prisoner... well, Mr. Prisoner's fighting style is really indecent. Saying too much about it will easily get me censored, so I won't go into details..."

King, on the other end of the phone, was already a little confused after listening to Jordan rattle off a whole bunch of S-Class hero examples. He was just one step away from being completely convinced.

"After saying all that, King, have you figured anything out?"

Sure enough, Jordan changed the subject and steered the conversation toward King.

King paused, then cautiously replied, "Jordan, do you mean... that I shouldn't be bound by preconceived notions, but should bravely seek out the fighting style that best suits me?"

As if he'd grasped the true meaning of battle, King's body trembled. His eyes suddenly lit up.

Of course, with his current imposing stature and strong physique, calling him a tiger wasn't an exaggeration at all.

It was as if a blow had struck King on the head, shattering the fog before his eyes.

Jordan's voice came through the phone, his tone impassioned. "King, your current fighting style is the best fit for you! Why bother with all that effort?!"

King was still somewhat puzzled. Jordan was immediately exasperated.

"Your greatest strength is nothing other than the strongest presence on Earth, which surpasses all heroes by birth!"

"Even the fiercest monsters would be terrified and die on the spot from a heartbeat as loud as mountains collapsing and tsunamis crashing..."

"This! This is what you, King, are best at!"
