Chapter 156 - Chapter 156: Plan Ahead

Dr. Genus understood the fundamental limitation.

The species limiter—that invisible ceiling governing biological potential. His research could only create something on the level of Carnage Kabuto. That represented the absolute limit of designed genetic engineering.

But Compound V's randomized mutation pathway essentially broke those original species limiters.

Combined with his ability to create unlimited clones for trial-and-error experimentation, the possibilities became nearly infinite.

Two different branches of species evolution. If they could complement each other's strengths—if the methodologies could be synthesized properly—

True new humans might actually emerge through this opportunity.

The thought sent a surge of excitement through Dr. Genus's chest.

"Even evolved humans and ordinary people remain the same species fundamentally."

Jordan's voice cut through the reverie like ice water.

"Put away that extreme ideology. New humans replacing old humans—abandon that line of thinking entirely."

The Mind Network had read Dr. Genus's ulterior motives with perfect clarity.

Jordan turned to stare at him directly, making absolutely no effort to hide the terrifying pressure his biomagnetic field exerted on baseline humans.

Their eyes met.

A suffocating sense of oppression emanated from those cold, predatory eyes.

Dr. Genus's heart seized—sudden cardiac arrest. Like a frail ape caught by a careless tiger, claws gripping its throat with casual lethal force.

Intense suffocation interrupted his evolutionary planning fantasies.

He realized with crystalline clarity: maintaining the correct stance was required for survival.

"Sorry," he managed, struggling to adjust his glasses with trembling fingers. "I haven't... been able to change my perspective yet..."

"This is the last reminder."

Jordan's tone shifted—became almost kind. He patted Dr. Genus on the shoulder.

"I'm providing you with materials not so you can destroy the world. Quite the opposite—I might even have you join the ranks protecting it in the future. I hope you won't waste this opportunity."

Dr. Genus didn't understand what "protecting the world" meant in this context.

He nodded anyway. Without hesitation.

The immense pressure receded like a withdrawing tide. Dr. Genus's heart hammered as he gasped for breath, oxygen flooding back.

Are you kidding me? he thought frantically. Carnage Kabuto's corpse hasn't even been cleaned up yet. If I don't go along with this man's plans, do I think I've lived too long?!

In a certain sense, Dr. Genus was indeed a pure researcher. The kind who would sacrifice their very existence for their ideals.

These scientists feared death less than being unable to continue their research after death.

Having him study Compound V was genuinely a perfect fit for his expertise.

As for whether his villainous traits would resurface later—Jordan wasn't particularly worried.

With himself and Saitama both in this world, even if Dr. Genus somehow managed to create a one-punch-man version of Homelander, it wouldn't cause serious problems.

And if somehow a god-level disaster emerged that couldn't be solved with one punch?

Then they'd throw another hundred million punches until the problem disappeared.

Simple.

"Alright, that's settled."

Jordan took a piece of white paper, wrote down his phone number in clear digits.

"Here's my contact. But don't call unless it's genuinely important. Understand?"

Dr. Genus carefully accepted the paper, treating it like precious treasure.

"How should we address you from now on?" He paused, thinking. "What do you think of 'Supreme One'?"

"Uh..." Jordan stopped mid-step. "What kind of strange title is that?"

"I've thought about it extensively. I was too arrogant before, believing my research represented the pinnacle of human evolution."

Dr. Genus's voice carried genuine conviction.

"It wasn't until I met you today, sir, that I saw a door to an entirely new world!"

"I'm well aware of my own talents. I'm far more suited to be a researcher than a manager."

"But an organization cannot exist without a leader. After considerable thought, I believe you are the most suitable candidate for that role."

His expression became almost reverent.

"As you command—from this day forward, the House of Evolution will serve you wholeheartedly."

The Mind Network confirmed it: Dr. Genus's internal thoughts matched his external fanaticism perfectly. No deception. No hidden agenda.

No wonder rumors circulate that the House of Evolution is some kind of mysterious religious organization, Jordan mused. Seems there's truth to it.

Jordan didn't fully understand the intensity of Dr. Genus's devotion.

But he didn't object either.

If Dr. Genus could work honestly—genuinely commit to beneficial research—then the underground network of the House of Evolution would be worth cultivating.

Jordan knew that although the Hero Association seemed at its peak currently, the future wouldn't be so simple.

The main problem: the association's leadership would fail to uphold their founding principles. They'd forget the original intentions behind the organization's establishment.

Allocating limited hero resources to the wealthy and upper classes would spark discontent among ordinary people. Gradually lead to loss of public support. The corruption would metastasize.

Now that Jordan had arrived in this world, he wouldn't sit idle and watch the Hero Association repeat those same mistakes.

But even after eliminating corrupt elements, he'd still need substantial personnel to handle daily operations of such a massive organization.

Training a force loyal directly to himself became strategically essential.

As for ensuring that loyalty—easy enough to handle.

When he broke through the next limiter bottleneck, he'd enhance the Sharingan's capabilities further. Give Dr. Genus's clones a round of thought imprinting. Problem solved.

"The term 'Supreme One' is too strange. Makes me feel like a villain."

An image flashed through Jordan's mind—some black-robed elderly rogue with sinister airs.

"From now on, just call me Boss."

Having pledged his loyalty, Dr. Genus understood the immediate crisis had passed. Relief washed through him, and his usual elegance returned.

"I won't disturb your work any longer. I'll be going now."

"Take care, Boss."

Blue light illuminated the corridor. Jordan, who'd already stepped through the automatically opened office door, vanished from the spot in an instant.

Teleportation.

Dr. Genus stared at the treasure Jordan had left behind—the freezers, the server, the complete archives.

His eyes burned with scientific excitement.

"With proper methodology, could we actually create superhumans with abilities second only to the Boss himself?"

He adjusted his glasses, smile widening.

"This is indeed a subject worth exploring. Well then—let's get to work!"

When Jordan arrived on the surface, the sun hadn't yet reached noon.

Having just returned from The Boys universe, he decided to take a half-day off.

Teleported directly to Z-City Police Department.

Ate lunch in the station cafeteria. Supervised his lovely subordinates as they worked through the afternoon until the end of shift.

A beautiful day passed uneventfully.

The Special Affairs Section's jurisdiction had expanded recently—now handling all reports involving strange individuals. Filing and tracking everything. The small staff found themselves extremely busy.

If not for a certain section chief who showed up to slack off and treated everyone to lavish afternoon tea, a workers' uprising might have erupted before day's end.

Of course, Jordan wasn't completely idle despite the slacking.

He at least studied the two monster cards he'd acquired that morning.

Beast King (SR-rank): Naturally disassembled for strengthening materials immediately.

Carnage Kabuto (SSR-rank): Temporarily kept intact for future deployment.
