He'd been running the Biomagnetic Field since early in his Hero Association days — a solid, useful ability, but always with the sense that it was something borrowed rather than something that belonged to him at a foundational level. The Biotic Field was its own thing. His thing. Grown from the same root but evolved past every ceiling the template had originally imposed.
More importantly: immune to Kryptonite.
The specific backstab vulnerability that the universe's most famous cape had been carrying for decades, neutralized. Not worked around. Not protected against. Not applicable. The Biotic Field simply processed Kryptonite energy the same way it processed sunlight — as food.
This is the real version, Jordan thought, with the satisfaction of someone who has spent time with a good imitation and finally met the genuine article. Even Superman would have to acknowledge the upgrade.
He allowed himself exactly one moment of taking off from the stratosphere before moving on.

He took off from the stratosphere a second time.
This was what exceeding limits felt like when the upgrade actually deserved the word upgrade. Two abilities that had been running at their instilled ceilings for arcs had broken through to something that felt innate — not applied from outside but native, woven into what he was. The difference between wearing armor and having bones.
Worth waiting for, he thought, with the specific satisfaction of a song finally hitting its chorus after a long intro.
He checked the Evolutionary Power balance.
More than a third remained.
Jordan looked at his ability library with the eye of a man distributing a finite resource across a large estate, looking for the one holding that would benefit most from the capital injection. He found it quickly.

No intermediate steps. No Mangekyō phase, no Eternal Mangekyō detour. The Evolutionary Power had looked at the entire Sharingan progression, identified the ceiling, and gone directly to the top. Efficient. Almost aggressively efficient.
Decisive, he thought, with genuine appreciation. That's exactly the kind of approach I can respect.
The Evolutionary Power balance showed a remainder.
Not much — but not nothing. Jordan opened his ability library the way you open a granary at the end of a distribution round, looking at what remained and what still needed tending. No single ability had been left out long enough to qualify for an upgrade to a new tier, but the power was there and the power wanted to be used.
He distributed it evenly across everything.
Not a dramatic allocation — no individual ability leaped to a new form or acquired new techniques. But every system in the library received a measured enhancement: the baselines lifted, the ceilings where they hadn't been broken simply rose, the accumulated mechanics of two years of card acquisitions running a comprehensive patch that updated everything to the current version of Jordan.
When it was done, the Evolutionary Power reached zero.
The quantum state held him in its deep blue quiet for a moment longer.
Then Jordan Evans opened his eyes on Titan's empty sky and took stock of what he'd become.
