Chapter 66 - Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Morning light filtered through the sheer curtains into the bedroom. Gwen groggily opened her eyes and found the space beside her empty.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up, her gaze falling toward the living room's floor-to-ceiling window.

Yang Jian was lounging lazily on a single sofa. Sunlight gilded the sharp lines of his muscular body in gold.

His eyes were closed, chest rising and falling slowly with each breath. A faint golden glow shimmered on his skin as he absorbed solar energy.

Gwen swallowed unconsciously, then tiptoed over and draped herself over him like a cat.

Yang Jian naturally wrapped an arm around her waist without opening his eyes.

"Why so early?"

Gwen pressed her face against his warm chest: "New York still needs Ghost-Spider."

Yang Jian chuckled softly, fingers gently stroking her back: "Superheroes deserve vacations too. Nobody works every day."

Gwen lifted her head to give him a quick kiss, then reluctantly got up to put on her suit: "What do you want for breakfast?"

"Anything you make, I like."

Yang Jian remained with eyes closed, basking in the sunlight streaming over him.

When Gwen came out of the kitchen carrying fried eggs and bacon, she found Yang Jian still in the same position—only the golden light on his body had grown brighter.

The sunlight seemed to be absorbed directly into his skin, forming a subtle halo.

"Breakfast is ready." She placed the plate on the table, unable to resist staring a little longer.

"You look like the sun god from Norse mythology when you sunbathe like that."

Yang Jian finally opened his eyes. Golden light flowed within his pupils.

"You guessed right—I am the sun god."

He stood up; the light flowed into his skin like liquid.

"Now the efficiency is many times higher than before."

At the dining table, Gwen sipped orange juice and suddenly asked: "Going back today?"

Yang Jian's fork paused mid-air. He looked up: "Do you want me to go back?"

"Of course not." Gwen playfully rubbed his leg with her foot.

"But I know you have your own things to handle."

She tilted her head with a smile: "Just remember to visit often?"

Yang Jian took her hand. With his other hand, he retrieved a ring made of special material from his system space.

"When you miss me, speak to this."

He slipped the ring onto her finger: "I'll come right away."

Gwen stared at the ring in surprise: "What is this?"

"A miniature communicator. It enables cross-universe communication."

Yang Jian kissed the back of her hand: "Now, even across the multiverse, I can hear your heartbeat."

Suddenly, sirens blared outside the window.

Gwen reflexively stood up, then laughed sheepishly: "Occupational habit."

Yang Jian magically produced a gift box from behind him: "Maybe this will save you some time?"

Gwen opened it. Inside was a brand-new suit in black, white, and red.

"Nano-vibranium fiber," Yang Jian explained.

"Absorbs kinetic energy, extremely high defense, self-repairing, can change color based on environment, and has built-in high-tech weapons for emergencies."

Gwen changed into it excitedly. The suit instantly molded perfectly to her curves.

She spun in front of the mirror, then shot a web-line out the window and swung away.

"I'm going to check that alarm!"

Her laughter drifted back: "And test the new gear while I'm at it!"

Yang Jian shook his head with a soft laugh and cleared the table.

Sunlight enveloped him again. The ring suddenly transmitted Gwen's excited shout.

"Wow! This suit is amazing! Bullets just tickled earlier!"

...

Sunlight slanted across Yang Jian's shoulders at the apartment entrance. He looked up at the vintage-style building, a smile unconsciously tugging at his lips.

"If I hadn't transmigrated, I'd have asked Han Han to gift me a place like this."

Though now he didn't lack for anything.

Yang Jian shook his head and walked through the main door.

Inside the Apartment

In the living room, Wanda, Echo, Coulson, and Melinda May sat around the leather sofa. A holographic projection map slowly rotated above the coffee table.

Wanda was outlining a surveillance zone with her finger.

"East district is mine," Melinda pointed at the map.

"I can develop informants there."

Echo studied the map and said suddenly: "Then I'll check these anomalous energy points."

"Wait!"

Deadpool suddenly popped up from behind the sofa, his head perfectly positioned in the middle of the hologram.

"Did you forget the most important part?"

Coulson leaned back tactically: "What part?"

"Costume design, obviously!"

Deadpool pulled out a crumpled stack of sketches from somewhere.

"Look—I designed custom suits for everyone! Wanda gets deep-V with fishnets, Echo gets crop-top and rivets…"

Shoo!

Echo's sonic blast flipped Deadpool straight onto the carpet.

"Ow!" Deadpool flopped like a fish out of water. "This is workplace harassment! I'm reporting to the women's federation!"

Wanda rubbed her temples: "It's the Avengers Alliance."

"Same thing!" Deadpool had already bounced over to Coulson.

"Coulson, yours is a tuxedo style—with micro-missiles hidden in the bow tie."

Melinda couldn't take it anymore. Her dagger stabbed into the sofa between Deadpool's legs—0.01 cm from a very sensitive area.

"Wade," Agent May said slowly.

"If you say one more word… I might let you experience real decluttering."

Deadpool crab-walked sideways: "Whoa! Aunt May's scary! But I like it!"

At that moment, the door slid open automatically.

Everyone instantly entered combat readiness.

Red light surged in Wanda's hands.

Sonic energy hummed around Echo. Coulson and Melinda drew and cocked their guns simultaneously.

"Is it a villain at the door?"

Deadpool hid behind a potted plant and peeked out.

"Oh no—wait, we haven't started provoking villains yet! Unless… the owner of that Thanos figure I swiped last week tracked me down?"

The door fully opened. Yang Jian's figure appeared in the doorway.

"Yang!"

Everyone relaxed and lowered their weapons.

Deadpool jumped out from behind the plant.

"Superman appears! Superman skips saving the world to slack off! Tell me, Yang—did you have a fight with Spider-Girl?"

Yang Jian ignored Deadpool's trash talk and scanned the group.

"How's everyone settling in?"

Coulson holstered his gun: "Planning the surveillance network."

"Lies!"

Deadpool suddenly clung to Yang Jian's back: "We were actually debating who gets to be captain! I suggest arm-wrestling to decide!"

Echo couldn't hold back—another sonic blast knocked Deadpool to the carpet.

"We don't need a captain."

"Then it's a harem?"

Deadpool lay on the floor gesturing: "According to comic tropes, Wanda should be the official girlfriend, Echo the tsundere mistress, Aunt May the cold beauty route."

Melinda's dagger stabbed into the floor right next to Deadpool's mask.

Yang Jian's eyes flashed with amusement: "Looks like you're all getting along great."

"Great?"

Wanda rolled her eyes: "If I have to listen to him ramble for another ten minutes, I might rewrite reality and make him mute."

Deadpool suddenly became serious: "Honestly, your new team needs a mascot."

He patted his chest: "Deadpool-brand mascot—comes with built-in taunt buff, buy one get three free."
