Chapter 112:
New York, Long Island
As soon as Yang Jian walked onto the tree-lined path in front of the villa, he heard a rhythmic clack-clack-clack sound.
He looked up and saw Bumblebee standing in the yard, his massive metal body swaying left and right.
The mechanical joints clicked and clacked along some self-made rhythm, looking exactly like a Transformer participating in a street dance competition.
Yang Jian raised an eyebrow.
Wow, Bumblebee was really hyped up?!
Tut-tut
Bumblebee, who had been dancing, sensed an energy signature approaching. He quickly switched his cannons to point behind him and discovered it was Yang Jian.
Bumblebee instantly lit up with joy. He stopped moving at once, and his optics brightened several degrees!
Clack-clack-clack!
He rapidly transformed into his Chevrolet Camaro form. The engine roared as he sped over to Yang Jian.
The car stereo excitedly blasted Queen's We Will Rock You, the horn blaring loudly.
"Welcome home! Boss!!!"
Yang Jian shook his head helplessly and smiled as he patted the hood: "Not bad, Bumblebee. Your dance skills have improved."
He examined Bumblebee's car body and knocked on it twice.
"Next time I'll install an invisibility device for you, so the neighbors stop complaining about music coming from my garage in the middle of the night."
"Really?!!"
Bumblebee's radio went wild, rapidly switching songs — from symphony to rock to nursery rhymes — and finally a movie line popped out of the speakers.
"You are the most generous carbon-based lifeform I've ever met!"
Yang Jian rolled his eyes. You've gotten used to this, haven't you? I fixed your vocalizer and you're still using channels.
He was about to say something more when the villa door suddenly opened.
Wanda and Mikaela stood in the doorway, one with flaming red hair, the other with smooth black hair.
Wanda was still wearing house slippers and holding the Book of the Dark God — clearly having run straight out of the study when she heard the noise.
Mikaela had thrown on one of Yang Jian's shirts as a jacket, her long bare legs showing she had just jumped up from the sofa.
Both of them froze for a second, then their eyes lit up as they quickly walked down the steps.
"Look who's back!"
Yang Jian opened his arms with a faint smile. "Been a while. Don't recognize me anymore?"
Wanda stepped closer first and gently poked his chest with her finger.
"One month and four days."
She lifted her chin, tears sparkling in her eyes.
"If you had come back any later, we would have gone crazy."
Yang Jian raised an eyebrow again. Where did Wanda learn that from?
Mikaela wrapped her arm around his from the other side. Her wheat-colored skin made her look even more alluring.
"Origin said you went for a walk in a parallel universe? Next time take us with you!"
Yang Jian walked into the house with one arm around each girl: "Even the evil spirit universe?"
"Yes!" Both answered in unison.
Wanda rubbed her "watermelons" against Yang Jian's arm and added, "I can turn evil spirits into bubble wrap."
Mikaela nodded: "I'll be in charge of taking their memorial photos."
"Welcome home, sir!" Origin's voice sounded as the three entered the villa.
Inside the villa.
The three sat on the sofa chatting.
Zhao Helen walked out from the underground lab in her white coat, smiling brightly.
"You're back, Yang! Perfect timing. The new nano battle suit needs a tester."
She shook the syringe in her hand. "Who wants to go first?"
Yang Jian pulled the two girls closer into his arms and beckoned to Helen with his other hand.
"Be good, come here first."
Helen raised an eyebrow, then picked up four glasses of red wine from the table: "So, shall we first celebrate someone finally remembering to come home?"
...…
The afterglow of the sunset poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the luxurious villa's living room.
Yang Jian lounged lazily on the genuine leather sofa, holding a can of chilled beer in his hand.
The TV was playing news about the Avengers repelling the Kree invasion, with Tony Stark talking nonstop to the camera.
It then switched to footage of the Avengers battling the Kree, also capturing Yang Jian chatting with them.
He hadn't used his bio-field to interfere, so being photographed was no big deal.
"You stole the spotlight again this time."
Wanda curled up on the other side of the sofa. With a gentle flick of her finger, the remote floated into her hand and the TV instantly switched to a romantic comedy channel.
She was barefoot, a loose home T-shirt revealing a sliver of fair waist. Her red hair cascaded casually over her shoulders.
"Yang always does this whenever he makes a move."
Zhao Helen walked out from the kitchen carrying a freshly cut fruit platter. She had changed out of her lab coat into comfortable home clothes, but still carried a capable aura.
"Right now YouTube is full of discussions about why a never-before-seen person suddenly appeared beside the Avengers."
Mikaela was doing yoga on the living room carpet. Upon hearing this, she turned her head and smiled.
"Doesn't that make the Avengers look a bit lame?"
She was wearing a sports bra. A thin layer of sweat glistened on her wheat-colored skin. Her tied ponytail swayed gently with her movements.
Yang Jian smiled as he took a sip of beer: "They're used to it."
Wanda and Mikaela exchanged a glance. Suddenly, one of them flipped over and straddled Yang Jian's lap, looking at him with a pitiful expression.
"So? Which universes did you go vacationing in?"
"I already told you — the evil spirit universe."
Yang Jian answered honestly and casually wrapped an arm around her waist. "Went to eliminate a few evil spirits."
"Ah, this is delicious."
Zhao Helen forked a piece of mango and fed it into Yang Jian's mouth.
"Next time take me with you. I'm very interested in the biology of parallel universes."
Mikaela had finished her final yoga pose and nimbly crawled over to lean against Yang Jian's shoulder.
"How about taking me? I haven't seen beaches from other universes yet."
Wanda's eyes sparkled slightly: "You two better not sneak off."
Yang Jian looked at the three girls' expectant eyes and smiled faintly.
"How about this — you can vote to decide the order. Whoever wins, I'll take first."
Wanda's eyes instantly lit up: "Vote? How about a magic duel instead?"
"Stop stop stop!"
Mikaela quickly raised her hand. "I suggest a cooking competition! The boss loves my Mexican burritos the most!"
Zhao Helen pushed up her glasses and said with mock seriousness: "According to past mission records, my scientific support efficiency is as high as 92%."
The three looked at each other, and the corners of their mouths couldn't help but curl into smiles.
Yang Jian took a slow sip of beer. He understood what the three were thinking, but there was no rush for this matter.
"Don't rush. Not right now."
He reached out and lightly tapped each of their noses in turn. "I just got back. You have to let me rest for a few days, right? I'll take you with me on the next mission."
Wanda pouted, but her magic honestly floated away the beer can in his hand.
She didn't really want to go anyway — she just wanted to spend more time with Yang Jian.
"Then next time. I want to go to a really fun universe."
On the other side, Mikaela untied her ponytail, letting her hair fall over her shoulders. "What about me? I want to go to a horror world."
As she spoke, her fingers playfully traced Yang Jian's chest.
Zhao Helen smiled silently. She didn't say anything, but she knew Yang Jian definitely wouldn't forget her.
