Kill her?
Uchiha Retsu couldn't quite bring himself to do it. Letting this white-haired little girl die so easily would be such a waste.
Moreover, Kanna was not an evil demon.
In the original story, she only developed emotions after Kagura's death. Yet the moment she gained feelings of her own, Naraku sent her into a desperate battle to die.
Before her death, she gave Kagome the crucial clue needed to kill Naraku.
Before Kagura's death, Kanna had merely stayed quietly by Naraku's side, mechanically carrying out every order.
Unlike her sister Kagura, who longed to break free and pursue freedom, Kanna had no emotions. Without feelings, she had no sense of good or evil—neither malice nor kindness.
Just as she herself said—she had nothing.
"How should we deal with her?" Retsu looked at Kikyo and asked for her opinion.
"Hm?" Kikyo hesitated, then said softly, "She doesn't seem dangerous… maybe we can keep her with us for now?"
It seemed Kikyo quite liked this little girl. Thinking about how she had once been surrounded by children when they first met, it wasn't surprising.
Retsu glanced at her.
Does Kikyo really like kids that much?
"No…" He shook his head. "Her ability is too strange. No demonic aura, no scent, and even…"
He looked at Kanna's snow-white body and pitch-black pupils.
"Even her 'color' is missing. This 'nothingness' trait means my sealing techniques can't hold her for long.
"Before long, the seal will weaken because of her nature. Unless I reinforce it regularly, or completely seal her inside a container with the Four Symbols Seal."
The more he thought about it, the more unusual Kanna's ability felt.
The sealing technique he had casually placed on her earlier was already weakening. It wasn't a powerful seal, but being able to erode it through her own nature was something he had never seen before.
"And since Naraku sent her out, he definitely has a way to control her," Retsu added. "If he finds out she's been captured, he'll probably kill her immediately to silence her."
"Then… should we just kill her?" Kikyo said helplessly.
Retsu frowned, studying Kanna while thinking.
Meanwhile, Kanna—the subject of their discussion—stood there expressionlessly.
Even when they mentioned killing her, there wasn't the slightest ripple in her eyes, as if they were talking about a stranger.
"I've got it!"
A sudden idea flashed through Retsu's mind, and a smile curved his lips.
With Kanna's emotionless personality, as long as Naraku didn't ask, she wouldn't volunteer information.
That was perfect. He could make some "adjustments," and Naraku might never notice.
His gaze toward her became meaningful, and he even let out a strange chuckle.
"Hehehe…"
"What are you planning?! She's just a child!"
Seeing his creepy smile, Kikyo immediately pulled Kanna into her arms and glared at him warily.
Being stared at like a pervert, Retsu was speechless.
"What are you thinking?! I'm just setting a trap for Naraku!"
"Really?" Kikyo eyed him suspiciously for a few seconds.
When she saw his honest expression, she realized she had misunderstood. She awkwardly released Kanna and instantly returned to her usual cool demeanor, as if nothing had happened.
"Hmph."
Retsu glared at her unhappily.
Kikyo, knowing she was in the wrong, pretended not to notice and watched him curiously instead.
Retsu grew serious. His hands formed seals rapidly.
He took Kanna's cold right hand and pressed his palm against it, then turned to Kikyo.
"Kikyo, put your hand on mine and send your spiritual power over. I'm going to seal it into her palm."
Kikyo froze for a moment, then immediately understood.
She placed her hand on his, and pure spiritual power flowed out.
Feeling her energy enter him, Retsu activated his chakra and said in a low voice,
"Four Symbols Seal!"
Kikyo's spiritual power was quickly sealed into Kanna's palm.
A complex sealing pattern flashed briefly before disappearing.
Retsu exhaled in relief and looked at Kanna.
Throughout the process, she had been like a beautiful doll without a soul—no resistance, no reaction.
"Listen, Kanna."
Retsu crouched down to her level, his gaze serious.
"I've sealed Kikyo's spiritual power in your palm. It can purify miasma and evil energy. It can seriously harm Naraku.
"If one day you want freedom, just use your demonic power to break the seal. It's simple. I left a mechanism—just impact it with your power, and it will open."
Then he extended a finger and tapped her forehead.
His Mangekyō Sharingan appeared, crimson power surging out.
"Transcription Seal!"
A sickle-shaped Mangekyō pattern flashed in Kanna's left eye before vanishing.
She still showed no reaction, only staring at him with her dark eyes.
"I know your heart is with Naraku."
The moment he said this, Retsu clearly saw a faint ripple appear in her otherwise still gaze.
Catching it, his smile deepened.
"I sealed a dōjutsu in your left eye. It can open a spatial vortex within your line of sight and send things to another dimension.
"You can use it to take your heart back from Naraku."
Seeing her return to calm silence, he continued,
"When you truly want freedom, use these things to achieve it. Don't worry—your special nature means Naraku will never notice these seals."
"All right. You can go now."
Retsu placed his hand on her head and gently patted her hair.
It felt cool and soft under his fingers.
"I've already removed your restraints."
Hearing this, Kanna turned and walked forward lightly.
In the next moment, her figure gradually faded and disappeared from the cabin.
"Do you think she'll betray Naraku?" Kikyo asked softly, curiosity in her voice.
Retsu turned to her and smiled mysteriously.
"Definitely. Someone like Naraku, who toys with people's feelings and treats others like chess pieces, is destined to be betrayed by those around him."
"By the way," Kikyo added suddenly, "how did you know her heart is with Naraku?"
"Uh… secret!"
Retsu froze, then laughed awkwardly and brushed it off.
"Hmph."
Kikyo rolled her eyes and didn't press further.
After spending so much time together, she already knew he carried many secrets.
Since he didn't want to say, she wouldn't force him.
