Chapter 42 - a jealous boyfriend

Yuna:

The Porsche rolled to a smooth stop in front of an elegant building with tall glass doors and soft golden lights glowing inside.

Yuna turned off the engine and looked at the place.

"This looks expensive," she said with a small smile.

Ethan opened the car door.

"It's fine."

They walked inside together.

The moment the doors opened, Yuna noticed something strange.

The restaurant was completely quiet.

No guests.

No crowded tables.

Only staff members standing politely along the walls.

In the center of the restaurant was a single beautifully decorated table. Elegant curtains draped softly from the ceiling, warm lights glowing above it like a quiet stage.

Yuna stopped walking.

"…Ethan."

He looked at her.

"Why is there not a single person here?"

Ethan answered simply.

"I booked the whole restaurant."

Her eyes widened.

"You booked… the whole place?"

"Yes."

Yuna looked around again.

The atmosphere was beautiful. Soft music played in the background, and the lighting made the entire room feel private and warm.

"You're unbelievable," she said quietly.

Ethan pulled a chair for her.

"Sit."

She laughed softly and sat down.

The moment they did, the staff brought menus.

Yuna opened hers and blinked in surprise.

"These are all your favorite dishes."

Ethan nodded.

"And yours."

She looked up at him.

"You remembered?"

"I remember things that matter."

Her heart skipped slightly at that.

They ordered a few dishes, and soon the table filled with food. The mood became lighter as they started eating.

Yuna laughed when Ethan tried to act serious while tasting a dessert.

"You're pretending you don't like sweets."

"I never said that."

"You did six years ago."

"That was six years ago."

She leaned forward with a playful smile.

"So you changed?"

Ethan looked at her calmly.

"Maybe."

They talked, joked, and teased each other while eating.

For the first time in a long time, Yuna saw Ethan relaxed.

After dinner, soft music changed in the background.

Yuna noticed a hallway behind the restaurant.

"What's that?" she asked.

"A dance hall."

Her eyes brightened.

"Really?"

Ethan nodded slightly.

The hall inside was dim with soft night lights glowing along the walls, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The floor was wide and empty.

Yuna looked at him.

"Dance with me."

"I don't dance."

"You do tonight."

Before he could refuse, she grabbed his hand and pulled him to the center.

Ethan sighed quietly but placed a hand around her waist.

They moved slowly with the music.

Yuna rested her hand on his shoulder, looking up at him.

"You're actually good at this."

"I learn things quickly."

She smiled.

"I noticed."

The music slowed even more.

For a moment they just stood close to each other.

Then Yuna leaned in slightly.

Ethan didn't move away.

Their lips met softly.

The kiss deepened slowly, warm and natural under the soft lights.

When they finally separated, both of them were breathing a little slower.

Later, they moved to a comfortable couch in the corner of the hall.

Yuna sat close beside him.

For several minutes she didn't say anything.

She just watched him.

Ethan noticed.

"…Why are you staring at me?"

"I'm thinking."

"That's dangerous."

She smiled faintly.

Then her expression became serious.

"Ethan."

"Yes."

"What do you actually do?"

He didn't answer.

She tilted her head.

"You never told me."

"Because i don't want you to ask me."

"I'm asking it now and in future too if you don't tell me."

Silence.

Ethan looked away slightly.

Yuna moved closer.

"Tell me."

"It's not important."

"It is to me."

Still silence.

She reached for his hand.

"Please."

He looked at her again.

"Why do you want to know?"

Her voice softened.

"Because I love you."

His expression changed slightly.

"If I love someone," she continued, "I want to know everything about them. Even the dangerous parts."

Ethan stared at her quietly.

"You might regret asking."

"I won't."

He studied her face for a moment longer.

Then finally he spoke.

"I'm a mafia boss."

The words hung heavily in the quiet room.

Yuna blinked.

Ethan continued calmly.

"My family is part of the Italian mafia. One of the biggest organizations."

Her eyes widened slightly.

"We control businesses in multiple countries."

His voice remained steady.

"Legal companies. Real estate. Clubs. Shipping. Finance."

He paused briefly.

"And other things."

Yuna sat very still.

"You're serious?"

"Yes."

"You're not joking?"

"No."

She exhaled slowly, trying to process it.

"So you're… a mafia leader."

"Yes."

"And also a businessman."

"Both."

She looked at him carefully.

"I knew you did dangerous work."

"But not this dangerous."

Ethan leaned back slightly.

"That's why I and luca told you to stay away from me."

Yuna remained quiet for a moment.

Then she asked softly,

"how many people have you killed?"

Ethan didn't answer immediately.

His silence was enough.

Yuna swallowed slightly but didn't move away.

Finally she looked back at him.

"You really live in a dark world."

"Yes."

"Full of enemies."

"Yes."

She looked down at their hands still touching.

Then she looked up again.

"But you still came to the mall just because people were staring at me."

Ethan didn't respond.

Yuna smiled softly.

"You're a strange mafia boss."

That made him raise an eyebrow.

"How?"

"Because you act scary to everyone…"

She leaned closer.

"But with me, you act like a jealous boyfriend."

For the first time that night—

Ethan actually smiled a little.
