Chapter 53 - let me go

Yuna:

Yuna's chest rose and fell rapidly.

The moment Adrian finished speaking, something inside her snapped.

"Leave me alone!" she shouted, her voice echoing through the empty garage. "Let me go!"

Her wrists strained against the ropes again, the rough fibers cutting deeper into her skin.

"I don't have anything to do with you!" she added, anger and fear mixing in her voice.

Adrian didn't move.

He simply watched her.

Calm.

Almost amused.

Then he took a slow step closer.

"Careful," he said quietly. "Your voice won't help you here."

"I don't care!" Yuna shot back. "You can't just kidnap people like this!"

A faint smile touched his lips.

"I just did."

Her breath hitched.

"Let me go!" she repeated, louder this time. "If you want something, deal with Ethan directly!"

At the mention of Ethan's name, Adrian's expression changed slightly.

Not anger.

Interest.

"That's exactly what I'm doing."

Yuna shook her head desperately.

"No… no, you're not. You're using me."

"Of course I am."

His honesty made her stomach drop.

"You think I'd waste time chasing him?" he continued. "Men like Ethan don't respond to threats. They respond to loss."

Her heart pounded harder.

"I won't be your tool," she said, her voice shaking.

Adrian's eyes darkened slightly.

"You already are."

He stepped closer, his presence suffocating.

"And if you don't cooperate…" he paused.

His voice dropped—cold, sharp.

"I'll start killing everyone connected to him."

Yuna froze.

Her breath stopped.

"…What?"

He leaned down slightly, his gaze locking onto hers.

"Ethan," he said calmly. "Luca."

Her eyes widened.

"Your staff. Your friends. Anyone who breathes near you."

Each word felt like a blade.

"I'll make sure you watch everything fall apart."

Yuna's vision blurred with tears.

"No…"

"And when I'm done," he continued, almost casually, "I'll kill you too."

A tear slipped down her cheek.

Her voice broke.

"Please…"

But Adrian straightened again, emotionless.

"You should've stayed away from him."

That broke something inside her.

"I didn't know!" she cried out suddenly. "I didn't know anything about his world!"

Her shoulders shook as tears started falling freely.

"I don't know his business… I don't know his enemies… I don't know anything!"

Her voice cracked completely.

"He has nothing to do with me!"

The words came out in desperation.

"He doesn't care about me like that… I'm not important!"

Adrian watched her quietly.

Studying.

Analyzing.

Yuna shook her head, sobbing now.

"So please… just let me go," she pleaded. "If you want him, go to him. Don't drag me into this."

Her breathing became uneven.

"I'm not part of his world," she whispered weakly. "I don't belong there…"

But even as she said it—

Her heart hurt.

Because deep down—

She knew it wasn't completely true.

Adrian took a slow step forward again.

Then another.

Until he stood right in front of her.

He crouched slightly, his face level with hers.

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then—

"You're lying."

Yuna's breath caught.

"He came for you yesterday, didn't he?" Adrian said quietly. "Left everything… just to reach you."

Her eyes widened slightly.

"You think I don't know?" he continued. "I've been watching him for a long time."

Yuna shook her head weakly.

"No…"

"You matter to him," Adrian said firmly.

Her tears didn't stop.

"And that," he added softly, "is exactly why you're here."

Yuna's body trembled.

She felt trapped.

Helpless.

"I'm begging you…" she whispered. "Don't hurt them…"

Adrian stood up slowly.

His expression returned to calm indifference.

"That depends on him."

He turned his back to her.

"Let's see how far he's willing to go for you."

Yuna's head lowered slightly as tears kept falling.

Her voice came out broken.

"…Ethan…"

For the first time—

She wasn't just heartbroken.

She was terrified.

Because now—

Her love for him had become a weapon.
