Maxy and Brian are frantically browsing through the store for anything they can use untill eventually, they drop one of the cabinates. A loud THONK is heard, immediately allerting the parasite of their presence and forcing them to think quickly. Maxy is seen holding his ears in retaliation as Brian keeps searching, the sound clearly being too much for him to bear.
The parasite instantly catches up, not even a few minutes after the sound was heard it broke through the front doors of the store.
And yet...
BONK
A baseball flies directly to the front of the parasite, knocking it backwards and sending it flying down multiple floors.
Brian stands up.
"The goop that those parasites have may be liquid, but they're extremely weak to pressure somehow, it's like an instinct that turns it into a hard clay whenever it's hit with something fast. I guess, if we just hit it hard enough, maybe we can misform the goop well enough to free the human?"
Maxy stands up again
"That's... not how it works, right? That sounds... you know what, I guess I'll trust you on this one."
They grab a few baseballs and two bats and start preparing for the parasite to climb up once again.
Once it reaches the floor they are on, the start swinging balls one by one, knock after knock it sends the goop from the parasite backwards, misforming it enough untill they see the face of a girl
"NOW!"
Brian shouts out while continuing to keep the parasite at bay. Maxy runs towards the parasite and drags the body out of it, it's covered by the disgusting goop, which seems to slowly turn more liquid the longer it stays still. The parasite, however, is not done yet. It starts storming to Maxy and the unconscious girl, barely slamming it's face against them just befor Brian steps in and swings his baseball so hard that the parasite recoils backwards
"And now for the finisher!"
Brian grabs his lighter and sets the parasite on fire, it immediately bursts into flames. Maxy quickly carries the girl away before she can catch on fire as well as brian tries to find a fire extinquisher to blow the parasite out.
A few minutes pass. As the parasite finally withers away, Maxy and Brian are resing down at a bench, along with the unconscious girl next to them.
Brian steps up
"So... what do we do now?"
Maxy follows
"We bring the girl back to the base, right? She's clearly breathing."
"Absolutely not. At least wait untill she wakes up. We can tell her everything and give her a choice to join us. You know, just like we did with you."
"What makes you think she's not going to accept! She clearly has nothing here ri-"
Two extra eyes open slowly, the girl stands up.
Awkward silence. Nothing happens for the next 5 seconds.
"Hello."
The girl speaks up, looking closely, she's wearing an old-fashioned flower dress, which seems to be some kind of waterproof, since it's the only thing not completely soaked.
"...heyyyyy..."
Maxy doesn't know what to say, she clearly heard their conversation in full. Brian, however, seems to have it together.
"Are you okay? Does anything hurt?"
"... no. In fact, I can't... feel anything."
Maxy steps up
"Just as I thought... I'm sorry to say this, but that thing that attacked you.
It infected you."
"Infected?"
Brian taps Maxy on the shoulders twice.
"We'll explain everything on the way, but you'll have to trust us."
The girl walks backwards.
"I'm sorry, I don't know you two, what makes you think... I can trust two random men who just so happened to be sitting next to me on a bench?"
Brian loses his composure immediately.
"N-now listen he-"
Maxy shuts Brian's mouth in an instant.
"Do you want me to tell you why you should trust us? I have enough evidence to spare."
"Hmmmmm.... I guess I'll have to. Go ahead. Tell me why I should trust you, and with that. Tell me everything about this illness as well, all of it. RIGHT HERE!"
Maxy immediately closes his ears
"You don't have to shout, young lady!
It's alright. I'll explain everything."
