Chapter 24 - As Everyone Knows—Stealth Means Eliminating Everyone Who Sees You

Following the information from the two "kind-hearted citizens," Shigaraki Tomura transferred lines several times before arriving at his destination—

An abandoned slaughterhouse.

The place stood isolated on the outskirts of the city. No pedestrians. No traffic. No signs of life.

As for why it had been abandoned—

Shigaraki had learned the reason while casually asking locals for directions.

Apparently, not long ago, a Villain with a Quirk that mimicked an infectious disease had gone on a rampage there. The slaughterhouse's entire meat stock had been contaminated and rendered inedible.

Pro Heroes apprehended the culprit quickly, preventing wider spread.

However, the problem was that the Villain's Quirk was persistent—once released, its effects lingered.

Even after arresting him, the Heroes had no immediate solution for the contamination left behind.

Though they removed the spoiled meat, the owner feared residual infection remained within the facility. Rather than risk reopening, he built a new slaughterhouse elsewhere with government assistance.

And so—

This one was abandoned.

Left to rot.

Naturally, it became the Butcher's nest.

As Shigaraki stepped inside, he instinctively surveyed the interior.

Fresh bloodstains still smeared parts of the workshop floor.

Shredded bits of meat clung to the conveyor machinery.

Hooks hung in rows nearby—darkened, dull, but reeking faintly of metallic rot even from several meters away.

The stench was overwhelming.

He nearly gagged.

At least it wasn't summer.

Otherwise, the smell combined with swarms of flies would've turned this into a living nightmare.

Just imagining it made his skin crawl.

He continued scanning the building.

Then he frowned.

The Butcher wasn't here.

His lips twitched faintly.

Don't tell me I made this trip for nothing.

Still—

He didn't leave.

Because one area remained unchecked.

The cold storage.

According to local accounts, a large quantity of meat had remained sealed inside the refrigeration unit. The freezer had been closed off during the contamination incident and thus had avoided infection.

However, since the outer sections of the slaughterhouse were affected, the owner had abandoned the stored inventory entirely rather than risk reopening it.

A refrigerated warehouse.

Stocked with preserved meat.

And a Villain whose Quirk allowed him to store consumed flesh and bone to enhance strength and heal wounds.

The connection was obvious.

Shigaraki finally understood why the Butcher had chosen this location as his base.

He glanced at a faded directional sign.

Cold Storage →

Without hesitation, he headed toward it.

As he walked, he consciously minimized the sound of his steps.

If the Butcher detected an intruder and fled, tracking him down again would be far more troublesome.

Stealth mattered.

Fortunately—

Luck favored him.

By the time he reached the vicinity of the cold storage facility—

He had not yet been detected.
